First Nations:
Is a term that came into common usage beginning in the 1970s to replace the word "Indian". Among its uses, the term "First Nations peoples" refers to the Indian peoples in Canada, both Status and Non-Status.

Original titles and descriptions will continue to show the term "Indian". For information supplied by the Archivist, the term "First Nations" will be used for materials processed by the Archivist commencing in 2010.
