A round, black lacquer box with heavy gold scrollwork around sides and lid with Burmese figure at centre. Lacquer over wickerwork. Shallow black tray sits in deep base, lid fits over lip on base. Sides of box and lid covered with heavy scrolled vine pattern with gold line borders. Heavy scroll border repeated around edge of lid with figure of Burmese man at centre, dressed in tiered headdress and flowing robe, and holding scroll in hand. Contains button collection and various other sewing sundries. Sticker on base: "Made in Burma" and remnants of a paper stamp of some sort.
