History / Biographical: James Geddes (1836-1908) and Jessie Geddes (née Dick Wares, 1836-1920) were both born in Wick, Caithness, Scotland and were married in Edinburgh in 1865. James and Jessie were the parents of Malcolm Daniel Geddes, as well as his siblings Daniel, James William and Jessie Esther. Following the family's move to Canada in 1877, James Geddes worked as a farmer and lay preacher in Ontario.

Scope & Content: File consists of two diaries: one owned by James Geddes with entries dating between 1889 and 1893, and one owned by Jessie Geddes, ca.1911. Content of James Geddes' diary pertains to daily accounts of personal events while living in Ontario. History / Biographical: I.G. Baker & Co. was a grocer and supply store based in Fort Benton, Montana starting in 1866. An additional store was opened following the settlement of North West Mounted Police officers at Fort Calgary in 1875, which supplied groceries and other basic goods to the area. The business and all existing stores were purchased by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1891.

Scope & Content: File consists of 5 photographs depicting views of Fort Calgary between 1875 and 1884. Includes views of the I.G. Baker & Co. storefront.
