Solid wood frame (1.2 cm. thick) constructed to hold three long drawers on left side, butting against two almost square drawers on the right, with a single larger drawers beneath running the length of the chest. Front of frame reinforced at corners and at joints between drawers with T-shaped pieces of metal of black with copper-brown squiggly design. Scalloped loop handles of same design on all drawers and large round scallop-edged medallions with keyholes at centre top edge of lower drawer and of lower square drawer on right are painted with same design. Sides and top and bottom of frame joined with mortise and tenon and small wooden pegs. Small square pads of wood glued inside to back act as drawer stops, solid wooden back.
