- History / Biographical
- Murray Hay is a self taught artist who left Regina at age 16 and began a career as a commercial artist. Murray Hay was born in 1931 and passed away in 2015 at the age of 84 years. Murray Hay moved to Alberta in1963? In 1976 Sir Rodney Touche approached him and asked if he would paint a ski map. The first ski map Murray painted was one of Lake Louise, the second was of Ski Big Three and the third was Sunshine Mountain ski resort

- An oil sketch of a mountain landscape. The primary colours used are blue, green, purple and beige. The sky is a solid wash of blue, and the remainder of the work is a mixture of shades, prominently green on the left, beige closer to the sky, and purple mixed with green on the right. One of the mountains on the left is highlighted with a stroke of orange. The glacier is in the centre right of the image. The artist’s signature is in the brhc in blue paint. Au verso, written in black ink in the tlhc, “50/A-3”.
