A tall varnished dark brown wooden box with heavy hinged lid sloping downward in front. Front of box is ornately shaped and bevelled with metal keyhole plaque on flat surface just below lid, and small hinged ring attached to metal back just above on lid. Exterior of box completely covered with veneer with marquetry of lighter veneer along edges of lid on top and outlining bevelled joints on front of box. Inside of lid parqueted with six pointed star inside oval of lighter and darker woods. Bent metal pin on lid fits into lock chamber when closed, insides have been removed.
