History / Biographical
The Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies is a trail riding organization based in Calgary, Alberta. The organization was established in 1923 with the support of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The first ride was held in 1924, and annual summer trail rides and pow-wows attracted fifteen hundred members by 1929. Many notable residents of the Bow Valley, including members of the Brewster and Moore families, Catherine Robb and Peter Whyte, and Carl Rungius have participated in trail rides. Support from the Canadian Pacific Railway ended in 1961. As of 2020, the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies remains an active organization. Calgary Power Company was founded by banker W. Max Aitken in 1903. Aitken, who later became Lord Beaverbrook, reorganized a number of utilities as a subsidiary of his Royal Securities Company. He was joined in this venture by his friend and mentor R. B. Bennett, who served as Canadian Prime Minister from 1930 until 1935.Calgary Power Company was founded by banker W. Max Aitken in 1903. Aitken, who later became Lord Beaverbrook, reorganized a number of utilities as a subsidiary of his Royal Securities Company. He was joined in this venture by his friend and mentor R. B. Bennett, who served as Canadian Prime Minister from 1930 until 1935. Calgary Power changed its name to TransAlta Utilities in 1981. With a service area that had outgrown Calgary decades earlier, the company's new name reflected its province-wide operation. By 1985, TransAlta provided 81 percent of the province's electricity needs. TransAlta Utilities Corporation is the largest investor-owned electric utility in Canada. TransAlta supplies electric energy to over 630,000 customers, which amounts to approximately 70 percent of Alberta's electricity consumption.

Wendy Bush grew up in Quebec and eastern Ontario and attended the University of Waterloo and the University of Alberta receiving a degree in Biology/Ecology. She is a guide, naturalist, writer and horse wrangler in Alberta's national and provincial parks and currently lives in the Canadian Rockies and Alberta foothills area. In 2005 Wendy Bush was presented with the Banff Award for Heritage Excellence.

History / Biographical
The Wheatley family were coal miners and shippers at Bankhead, Blairmore and Banff, Alberta, Canada. Frank M. Wheatley Sr., 1877-1958, began coal mining in Yorkshire at age twelve and continued in the business for almost sixty-five years. Mr. and Mrs. Wheatley came to Bankhead in 1908-1909 and worked there until closure of the mines in 1922. Frank Wheatley was involved in union activities locally in Bankhead and nationally after leaving Bankhead. Wheatley's sons started a small coal mine, Anthracite Collieries, near Banff in 1926. Frank Sr. was involved after 1930 and the family operated this concern until 1953.

William J. (Bill) Ross, 1914-1992, lived at Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was a long-time friend of Jim and Dorothy Boyce and was associated with George Browne through mutual membership in the Calgary Fish and Game Association. Ross took up historical research and writing after his retirement.

History / Biographical
Fred Yee Wing (1912-1968) was born in China. He mmigrated to Canada in 1921 aboard a CP steam ship RMS Monteagle and landed in Victoria B.C. Edith Belle (Lee) Wing (February 22, 1925 - 2014) was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Edith and Fred married in 1945 and had four children: Carole Elaine (Wing) Gray, (April 13, 1947) born Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, Banff, Alberta; Paul Delano Wing, (January 6, 1952), born Calgary General Hospital, Calgary, Alberta; Brian Frederick Wing, (July 27, 1957) born Calgary, Alberta; Donald Francis Wing (August 30, 1960) Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, Banff Alberta. Edith and Fred Wing were the first Chinese family to settle in Banff National Park and owned and operated the restaurant The Dominion Cafe. This has since been recognized by Parks Canada and the Heritage Society of Banff. Following the death of Fred Wing, Edith Wing sold the business and the family moved to Calgary. The Dominion Cafe had a 99 year lease with the Government of Canada. Edith Wing took up photography in the 1940s as a hobby and documented the everyday as well as her family life in Banff. She photographed up until 1968 when her husband, Fred Wing, passed away. She used a Rolleiflex and Kodak 616 Vigilant.

Sub-series A: Dominion Cafe, and sub-series B: Family History and Documents. Series M558/A: Dominion Cafe includes receipt pads, menus, and letterhead. Series M558/B: Family History and Documents includes newspapers with birth announcements, a wedding book. cradle roll certificate, and transcripts from an interview. V781/A: Photographs includes 1 album and 20 photographic prints.
