- In August, 1881 Lieutenant Adolphus W. Greely and a team of 25 determined men set out as part of the First International Polar Year to build a research station on Ellesmere Island, 450 miles from the North Pole. The Lady Franklin Bay Expedition began as the most ambitious arctic expedition in United States history, but was destined to descend into a three year journey through a frozen hell - a voyage of forced retreaat, starvation, brewing mutiny and cannibalism. Against all odds, six men survived and returned to Portsmouth, New Hampshire as American heros. (from back of book)

- History / Biographical
- Abbot Pass Hut was built in 1922 and sits at an elevation of 2,926 meters. It is one of the highest structures in Canada. The hut was named after Philip Stanley Abbot who had died from a fall during the first known attempt to reach the summit of Mount Lefroy. The hut was a national historic site, but the hut was closed to visitors in 2018 due to the erosion of the slope beneath the hut. On June 30, 2022 Parks Canada officially removed Abbot Pass Hut, due to those environmental factors.

- Predominant colours are pink, blue, purple, green and brown. The painting is dominated by the pyramidal-shaped Mt. Assiniboine and the icefield below it. It appears to be an aerial view of sunrise on the mountain. The foreground is comprised of rocks showing through a snow-covered approach to the mountain peak. The rocks are various shades of very dark blue, lighter blue and brown. To the viewer’s left the snow is tinged in various shades of pink as the morning light strikes it and the view to the right is still in the blue shades of shadow. The artist’s signature in white is in this area. The middle of the painting is the pink glow of the sun on snow with some shaded snow and rocks still showing to the viewer’s right. The top-half is a snow-covered Mt. Assiniboine with brown rock bands; viewer’s right in the sun’s light and viewer’s left in the shade. - In the centre of the square painting a walking brown and black grizzly bear looks toward viewer’s right. Behind him are blue/grey rocks, grey sky and a blue and grey blue mountain beyond, viewer’s right. The scene is bordered in dark brown and in the top corner, viewer’s left, is a grizzly paw print on a taupe-coloured background, bordered with black. Printed on the top back of the painting “GRIZZLY - STUDY/SKETCH (2009)” underneath in script “Lynne Huras”, and underneath this “ACRYLIC, ACRYLIC MEDIUM, DRY PASTEL ON PAPER”.
