Zig-zag design around sides formed of elongated trapazoidal forms stepping up and down on one another with a triangle at the base and top of each zig-zag, trapezoids are brown on bottom half, black across top. Rim of hat is banded with brown bars and brown and black line beneath. Bottom has band of black and brown surrounding a series of brown parallelograms forming a circle. Centre of base is a circle of lighter brown. The hat is a twining technique over ribs radiating from the centre with extra ribs added to expand the shape, design not visible on inside but mottled pattern in reverse of outer pattern is vaguely seen against the brown interior.
