Abstract: This collection offers a unique contribution to the scholarship of Indian art in that it documents the effects of the transition period (roughly 1880-1940) on the art of an Indian people--in this case, the Blackfeet. In 1952 the collection was divided; half of it was given to the Museum of the Plains Indian, and the other half was retained by the Northwest Area Foundation. This catalogue that reunites the collection contains four essays, and illustrates more than 400 objects, most of which are Blackfeet. (from Abe Books)
