Biography
Talbot, Margo
Abstract
Born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Margo Talbot grew up with a distant mother who “ruled the household with her eyes”; a father who opted to spend much of his time away from home; and four siblings struggling to deal with their particular domestic situation. As a result of her family’s dysfunction and her own growing mental illness, young Margo rarely smiled, had difficulty connecting with others, and was plagued with a black wave of anger and sadness that overshadowed much of the world around her. In time, drugs, alcohol, sex, and violence became her primary ways to connect with herself and others. From the depths of suicidal depression and a conversation with Death, Talbot eventually found solace and redemption in both the healing power of nature and the glory of climbing frozen landscapes in some of the world’s most pristine and challenging environments. Heartbreaking, honest, energizing, and inspiring All That Glitters is a remarkable memoir that shines a fresh light of hope on mental illness.-- From back cover

Abstract
In the 1960s, California's Yosemite Valley was the center of the rock climbing universe. Young nonconformists -- many of them the finest rock climbers in the world -- channeled their energy toward the largely untouched walls and cracks. Soon climbers from around the globe were coming to Camp 4 -- gathering spot for the creators of the "Golden Age" of Yosemite climbing -- to see whgat all the fuss is about. -- From the back cover

Abstract
Pertains to the work of David Brown Milne, a modernist artists whose work reflected the intellectual and emotional mind. Milne was a highly respected and influential artist who portrayed astonishing technique in both oil and watercolour. Rather than follow the path various other artists had at the time of his career, Milne ascended his own path, and his work reflects such independence. Written by Rosemarie L. Tovell, the publication explores the artist’s successes, failures and major breakthroughs, artistically speaking. Readers can expect to learn more about David Brown Milne and his artistic endeavors.

Abstract
The book is a testament to three sons’ love for their parents, Ed and Dorothy. Ed and Dorothy were kind and caring people and raised their family with those values. Biography
Abstract
A spirited 1950s travelogue that takes the reader around the world during a time when two independent young women travelling alone was considered almost revolutionary. Renate Belczyk was born in Dresden, Germany, in 1932. When she was three years old her family moved to Berlin, where they settled into a small apartment building on the outskirts of the city. It was in this building that she met another adventurous girl, Sigrid, with whom she would travel around the world as young women after the Second World War. Having spent most of their childhood and teenage years climbing trees, swimming, cycling, hiking, and adventuring around Germany the two young women attended a talk by the German writer Heinrich Böll. During his presentation the renowned author suggested to the crowd that they all travel to different countries and make friends with the locals whenever they could, as this would help prevent another war. Renate and Sigrid took this advice to heart, and from that point their adventures together took flight. Starting in 1955 and travelling for three years to England, France, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Canada, Japan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Egypt, Turkey, Macedonia, and Greece, their adventures together culminated with their joint return to Germany in 1958. In 1959 Renate returned to the Canadian Rockies to work in the backcountry, and in 1960 she married mountaineer Felix Belczyk and settled in Castlegar, BC, where they raised three children. Our Trip Around the World is an endearing snapshot of the postwar era when adventure travel – mountaineering, hiking, hitchhiking, and cycling – was enticing those with adventurous spirits to experience the world like never before. Abstract
At the age of 18, Chad Sayers chooses to pursue a perilous existence in the world of professional freeskiing. Immediately successful, he rides high on a train of celebrity, sponsorship, travel, and freedom. But "living the dream" is, in reality, a tiring treadmill of daily risk that eventually sets him adrift from family, friends, lovers -- even himself. As injuries and emotional traumas pile up, his identity fractures into a hall of mirrors -- the flickering images of athlete, son, brother, traveller, and seeker veiling the reality of a man running blindly from heartbreak and physical debilitation. Then one day, in the mountains of France, hanging by a finger above certain death, he sees the one reflection that finally scares him straight: a man who doesn't care. To heal this severed connection to reality and the constant pain he lives with, Sayers quits skiing and turns to his other passions of travel, surfing, and photography. In Overexposure, some of the world's greatest outdoor photographers contribute to this engaging story in order to parse not only the high-stakes gambits required for a pro skier to stay in the spotlight, but also the grandeur of the stage on which these play out. The international roster of renowned photographers included in this stunning work are: Oskar Enander, Mattias Fredriksson, Jordan Manley, Paul Morrison, Steve Ogle, Daniel Ronnback, Chad Sayers, Jason Thompson, Eric Berger, David Carlier, Guy Fattal, Garrett Grove, Guillaume Le Guillou, Bruno Long, Kari Medig, Bruce Rowles, Ben Thouard, and Don Weixl. -- Provided by publisher
