- Frederick Archibald Brewster, 1883-1969, was an outfitter and guide at Jasper, Alberta, Canada. Brewster was born in Kildonan, Manitoba and in 1888 moved with his family to Banff, where he received his education. He subsequently attended St. John's College, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, obtaining a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering. Brewster worked briefly as a prospector and in 1910 embarked upon a long career as an outfitter and guide, first with Brewster and Moore. He established operations in Jasper in 1912 and was responsible for important parties, including those of Samuel Prescott Fay and the United States Biological Survey. Brewster served with distinction in the First World War and was involved with mountain warfare training of the Lovat Scouts in the Second World War. He supplemented his outfitting business with a series of camps which doubled as ski lodges: Fred Brewster's Rocky Mountain Camps, and boat concessions.

Link spent many summers between 1928 and 1977 studying the Lake O'Hara region and building trails there, accompanied by his wife, Adeline Link, d.1943. The Links were frequently guided by Jim Boyce.

- John Hartefeld was born Johann Hartefeld in 1915 in Stettin, Poland (Germany). He studied physical education and manual arts from 1930 to 1933 and taught at a boys school in Berlin-Spandau from 1939 to 1945. Hartefeld moved to Garmish Partenkirchen, Germany where he worked as a ski instructor, sports teacher and faltboat (watercraft) instructor and guide.
- Gertrud Vinzenzia Sattler was born in 1920 in Wilkischen, Czechoslovakia and attended business college and language school in Prague, earning a certificate as a bilingual secretary in English and German. From 1945 to 1953 Gertrud Sattler worked for the U.S. Army in Garmish Partenkirchen as a secretary, bookkeeper and interpreter. She met John Hartefeld in Garmish Partenkirchen and together they immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Toronto, Ontario.
- Gertie and John married in Toronto in 1953 and moved to Banff, Alberta settling at 213 Bear Street. In 1963, John and Gertie moved into their new home at 340 Muskrat Street, a house built by John. John Hartefeld earned his Alberta Journeyman's Certificate in Carpentry in 1958 and completed his B.Ed in Industrial Arts in the Faculty of Education in 1966 by attending summer schools and through correspondence courses with Queen's University and the University of Calgary. He taught at the Banff High School from 1957 to 1979 and was instrumental in designing and assembling the industrial arts shop at the Banff High School in 1962. John Hartefeld gave ski lessons to school-age students at Mount Norquay and he designed and built the wrought iron chandeliers and wall lamps in his home and also at the Bugaboo, Cariboo, and Bobbie Burns lodges. John enjoyed fishing, windsurfing, and building his own windsurfing boards for sailing at Vermillion Lakes. John Hartefeld died in a bicycle accident on Norquay Road in June 1997.
- From 1953 to 1959 Gertie worked for J.D. Hansen of Banff doing insurance, real estate and legal work. From 1959 to 1964 Gertie worked for Dermod Owen-Flood, Barristers and Solicitors as a legal secretary and bookkeeper and from 1963 to 1966 she worked for Nesbitt, Beaumont et al. Barristers and Solicitors. Gertie provided secretarial and bookkeeping services for Rocky Mountain Guides (now CMH) from 1966 to 1968 and from 1962 to 1975, she worked as an insurance and real estate agent and was an officer of Banff Insurance Services Ltd. In 1975, Gertie became an insurance consultant for CMH. Gertie Hartefeld enjoyed skiing, fishing, cooking, and tennis. She was an accomplished weaver and a member of the Harvie Heights Weavers Guild. Her garments could be purchased at The Quest in Banff. Gertie Hartefeld died in 2002.

- Hans Gmoser, 1932-2006 was born in Braunau, Austria in 1932. During his long career he worked as a mountain guide, mountaineer, ski instructor, skier, cinematographer, lecturer, and founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Canadian Mountain Holidays. Hans Gmoser was also an active cyclist and was based in Banff and Harvie Heights, Alberta.
- Gmoser gained early skiing and mountaineering experience in post-war Austria before emigrating to Canada with his friend Leo Grillmair in 1951. Lizzie Rummel gave him his first job in the mountains at Mount Assiniboine. By 1953 he was working as a mountain guide and founded Rocky Mountain Guides Ltd. (Canadian Mountain Holidays CMH) in 1957. That year he began filming promotional films containing climbing and skiing adventure sequences. He first used fixed-wing aircraft and later helicopters, starting in 1963, to transport clients for spring skiing and summer climbing. Gmoser toured throughout North America promoting his skiing and climbing films, attracting large audiences with his inspiring lectures.
- Gmoser built Bugaboo Lodge in 1968, the first of six lodges which also include Bobbie Burns, Galena, Gothics, Adamants and Cariboo lodges, to serve international heli-skiers and heli-hikers. Gmoser retired from Canadian Mountain Holidays in 1993. Hans Gmoser received honourary memberships in the Alpine Club of Canada and the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations. He was elected to the Honour Roll of Canadian Skiing and the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame and received the Banff Mountain Film Festival Summit of Excellence Award. In 1987 Hans Gmoser was awarded the Order of Canada.

Albums consist of photographs taken during ski trips in Austria.
- Films depict a mixture of skiing and climbing including spring skiing, powder skiing, glacier skiing on Columbia Icefield, heli-skiing in the Rockies and Selkirks and ascents of Mount Logan, Yukon, and Mounts Blackburn and McKinley, Alaska, also rock and ice climbing. Feature length films consist of, or are accompanied by, all or some of the following elements: 16mm originals (A and B rolls); work prints, out takes, 16mm mag track (sound); 1/4" audio tape (background music to accompany narration, 7 items); teasers (TV film clips) and the following items included in the textual records: narration scripts, teaser text, descriptive flyers, press releases, annual pamphlets and ad solicitation for same, censor certificates, related correspondence, maps, oversize promotional posters for Gmoser's films "With Ski and Rope" 1957, and a handmade poster by Banff Ski Runners for "Adventure Bound" and related ephemera.

Sampson was a life member of the Alpine Club of Canada, 1910, President, 1930-1932, and Honorary President, 1945. He attended all but six annual mountaineering camps between 1911 and 1956 and made over seventy-five ascents, including two first ascents.

- Hermann Hagedorn was an American writer who was known for his biographical works, particularly on Theodore Roosevelt, as well as poetry and novels. Late in life, Hagedorn became interested in Moral Rearmament. During a visit to the movement's headquarters on Mackinac Island, Michigan in 1958, he met George McLean (Chief Walking Buffalo of the Stoney Indians), an active proponent and traveller on behalf of Moral Rearmament. Intrigued by McLean's character and philosophy, Hagedorn wrote articles as well as drafts of a biography tentatively titled "A Chief in Two Worlds," but died before the work could be completed.

- James Irving McLeod, 1879-1955, was a businessman at Banff, Alberta, Canada. After coming to Lake Louise from Ontario in 1906, McLeod cut ice for the hotels there and was a manager for Brewster Transport Co. from ca.1912 until 1920. In 1921, McLeod and William Warren formed Rocky Mountain Tours and Transport Co. Ltd. which McLeod operated until his retirement in 1946. The firm was operated by his sons, James and Allan, and his sons-in-law, H. H. Waterhouse and R. V. Bray, until amalgamating with Brewster Transport Co. Ltd. in 1957. McLeod also had an interest in the Homestead Hotel. James McLeod was married to Evelyn Davidson McLeod, 1885-1951.

- James Irvine Brewster, 1882-1947, came to Banff with his parents in 1888. While still boys, he and his brother Bill started guiding fishing parties and later formed an outfitting partnership. With silent partners Fred Hussey and Phil Moore, they established Brewster Brothers in 1904. Jim Brewster and Hussey left the business in 1906. In 1909, Jim returned to guide the business. Under his control, it became a major transportation supplier, Brewster Transport Company. Fern Brewster, 1902-1967, daughter of Jim Brewster and Lade Brewster (d.1915), was a sportswoman, businesswoman and homemaker. She was involved in the operation of Sunshine ski area and was a director of Brewster Transportation after her father's death. Fern Brewster's married names were Clarkson and Dooley. Adele (Dell) Brewster (Sibbald), 1896-1983, Jim Brewster's second wife, was also a director of Brewster Transportation.

James Irvine Brewster papers and photographs, before 1948 and ca.1959, consist mainly of professional papers and photographs relating to guiding and outfitting activities, and to Brewster Transport Company records, including Sunshine ski area records. Series includes correspondence, diaries, legal papers, Sunshine Lodge addition papers, Brewster house plans and other material. Correspondence is incoming and outgoing letters between Brewster and Hussey, clients, and associates regarding guiding and outfitting, real estate speculation and personal matters, etc. 1906-1907. - Ella Maud [Woodworth] Kidney (1894-1977) was born in Banff as the fourth of 11 siblings. Her parents were Benjamin Woodworth and Elizabeth [McIntire] Woodworth. Growing up, Maud worked briefly for the Alberta Hotel and the Bottling Works company in Banff. Maud was married to John A. MacAulay in 1917, and widowed later that year. Her twin sons, John A. [Jack] and Thomas A. [Ted] MacAulay, were born in 1918. Maud married Forest H. "Pop" Kidney (1889-1979) on February 14, 1923, and the new family settled into the Kidney home on Wolf and Muskrat Street. The Kidney residence was originally located in Bankhead, but was moved to Banff and sold following the town's closure in 1922. Maud and Forest operated several local businesses including Banff Grocery, Quaker Coffee Shop, Pop's Bakery and Kidney Kabins. The Kidneys were also active in community affairs throughout their lives. Maud Kidney was a long-time member of the Girls' Sunshine Flower Club in Banff [and the club's president for over a decade spanning across the 1940's], as well as the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire [I.O.D.E.] and Rebekah Lodge, and she was matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Banff in 1950. Forest Kidney was involved in the Banff Shriners Club, the Kiwanis Club, the Independent Order of Oddfellows and the Canadian Restaurants Association [CRA], among other groups; in the early 1960's, Forest also served as the President of the Calgary branch of the CRA. Jack and Ted MacAulay grew up together in Banff, where they were involved in Banff's Boy Scouts program and local hockey teams. Jack in particular was an avid hockey player, until an accident in 1940 caused damage to his right eye which kept him from competing. From 1943 to 1945, Jack worked for Boeing Aircraft of Canada Ltd., and in 1946 he was appointed as the Chief Inspector of War Assets for Alberta and the Yukon Territories. Jack married Karin Wallensteen in 1946, and the couple had 6 children together: sons Herb and John, and daughters Karen, Shelley, Jodi and Julie-Ann. Jack served as a coach for the Banff Minor Hockey League for 46 years. Jack also took on several other positions within the Bow Valley community, including working as a volunteer with the Banff Figure Skating Club, a co-founder of the Banff Recreation Board, and a member of the Banff Advisory Council, the Banff Hospital Board and the Banff School Board.

- Margaret Gold Brine, 1898-1985, born in Fort Langley, B.C. was educated at the University of Alberta earning her Master's in languages. She taught at the University of Alberta from 1924 to ca.1928. She married Charles Brine in 1928. Margaret Gold Brine climbed in the Canadian Rockies and the Alps with ascents that included Mount Edmonton, Mount Assiniboine, Mount Robson and Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.

- Mary Wright (Molly) Adams was born on 15 October 1868. in Ridgefield Connecticut. She was the third of five children born to Cornelia Ann Cook (1830-1902) and Daniel Lucius Adams (1814 - 1899) She died in Kobe, Japan on 23 January 1909 and was buried there.

- The Mather family were boat house operators at Banff, Alberta, Canada. William Mather, 1868-1927, emigrated to Ontario from Scotland in 1880 and came west ca.1888 to work for the Eau Claire Lumber Company on the Spray River near Banff. He worked for Raymond M. Rooper's boat house business on the Bow River and, in 1899, purchased the business. The Mather business included steamer tours in the summer and also involved winter sports on the Bow River. William Mather and Margaret McRavey Mather had four children, Jennie, Leslie, Allan and Hazel. With William Mather's death in 1927, the family incorporated its interests as the Bow River Boat House Limited, with Allan Mather as manager. The operation expanded to Lake Minnewanka in 1939. After Allan Mather's death in 1951, the business was sold to Ed Mader
