- Andrew Sibbald came to Alberta in 1875 with Rev. George McDougall to become the province's first teacher, teaching at Morley until 1896. He retired to Banff in 1909, where he celebrated his one hundredth birthday in 1933. George Hunter, son-in-law of Howard Sibbald (Andrew's son), came to Banff in 1905, served as Park Superintendent (1908-1910) and town magistrate (1922-1942); Leanore Hunter was his daughter.

- Sidney Joseph Unwin, [1880?]-1917, was a guide and outfitter at Banff, Alberta. Born in England, Unwin returned, after serving with the volunteer cavalry in the South African (Boer) War, to his home in London, England for a brief period to work as a surveyor's clerk, and in the fall of 1904 he moved to Banff. Initially, Unwin worked for guides and outfitters Syd Baker and Jimmy Simpson. In the winter of 1905 he began his own trapline. In 1907, Unwin began work for Billy Warren and accompanied Mary Schaffer and Molly Adams on their expeditions to the Maligne Lake, Saskatchewan River areas.
- After two years of working for Warren, Unwin began his own guiding outfit and in 1912, with the aid of his sister Ethel and brother Arthur, the Unwins established Unwin's Curios and Souvenirs. In 1914, Sid Unwin enlisted in the Canadian army and took up with the 22nd Battery (Howitzer), 6th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery 2nd Division. In 1916 he saw his first action in France. He fought in the battle for Vimy Ridge, was injured May 3, 1917 and died on June 29, 1917 at the East Leeds War Hospital.

- Skoki Lodge is a back-country guest lodge for skiers, hikers and riders situated north of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. The first cabin at Skoki was built in 1930 by Earl Spencer for Cliff White and Cyril Paris and the first ski party used the lodge in 1931. That year, the Ski Club of the Canadian Rockies took over operations and were responsible for additions. Skoki was intended as part of a network of ski lodges including Mount Temple and Lake Louise (now Post Hotel). Operators included Jim Boyce, Peter and Catharine Whyte and Lizzie Rummel. Subsequently, Lake Louise Lifts and Skiing Louise have been responsible for the lodge. Halfway Hut is located in the Ptarmigan Valley and was used as a resting place enroute to Skoki.

- In the 1920s John Murray Gibbon, Head of the Publicity Department of the Canadian Pacific Railway, recommended the creation of new activities and recreational pursuits for tourists visiting the national parks. Gibbon decided that horseback riding and sleeping outdoors in tents, teepees, or railway bungalow camps would appeal to many tourists and the Skyline Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies was established. Outdoor enthusiasts who visited Banff annually along with Banff and area residents proposed a similar organization for hikers. Gibbon responded with the Skyline Trail Hikers of the Canadian Rockies, with their inaugural hike occurring in 1933. The first annual meeting of the Skyline Trail Hikers of the Canadian Rockies was held immediately following the first hike and N.B. Sanson, retired meteorologist of Banff, became the Club's first president. The five vice-presidents elected were: Major Selby Walker of Calgary, Peter Whyte of Banff, Carl Rungius of New York, Ian Somerville of Philadelphia, and Miss Georgina Englehard of New York. A secretary-treasurer and council members were also elected and a certified hiking mileage of 25 miles in the Canadian Rockies was set as the criteria for admission of new members.
- In 1961 C.P.R. sponsorship ceased for both the Trail Riders and the Trail Hikers of the Canadian Rockies. Both groups re-organized as separate volunteer, non-profit organizations and the Skyline Trail Hikers of the Canadian Rockies was renamed the Skyline Hikers of the Canadian Rockies. The offices of the five vice-presidents as well as the honourary president were discontinued and replaced with an executive commitee consisting of President, Vice-President, Executive Secretary, and Committee Chairperson.
- The Skyline Hikers of the Canadian Rockies establish a new base camp location each summer and coordinate five 1-week camps from that base camp throughout the summer.

- The scrapbook contains newspaper accounts by travellers in the Rockies and Selkirks, particularly descriptions of Banff town, Banff Springs Hotel, the hot springs and vicinity. The Stewarts are frequently mentioned, having extended their hospitality to the various writers. The album has been autographed at a later date by Olive Stewart Foster. The blotting book contains 54 drawings pertaining to unknown persons and locations and is thought to have belonged to George Stewart. Drawings are possibly by Rev. F. G. Christmas. Location of images appears to be Manitoba or north-western Ontario.

- The Brewster family were outfitters and dude ranch operators in the Glacier National Park, Montana; Lake O'Hara, British Columbia and Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada areas. Personnel included Sylvia Brewster, hostess, and her son Claude at Kananaskis and daughter Syd (Brewster) Graves at Lake O'Hara. The Brewsters owned and operated the Two Medicine Ranch in Glacier Park, Montana before opening the Kananaskis Ranch near Seebe, Alberta in 1923.

- Nello "Tex" Vernon-Wood, 1882-1978, was a guide and outfitter, national park warden and writer at Banff, Alberta, Canada and area. He came to Canada, ca.1900, and lived at Medicine Hat, Alberta until 1905. After working a short time on a horse ranch, Vernon-Wood came to Banff to work as a guide for Jim Brewster, for whom he worked for eight summers. After working for the National Park warden service beginning in 1915, Vernon-Wood went into the guiding business for himself, working out of the Lake Louise area. One of his major clients was Charles Walcott, Director of the Smithsonian Institute. Vernon-Wood wrote numerous stories for American sporting magazines, the best-known being the "Pipestone Letters," published in Hunting and Fishing magazine beginning in 1935. Following his guiding career, Vernon-Wood established a boys camp in the Windermere Valley and worked for Kootenay National Park

- Thomas Henry Lonsdale, 1886-1975, was a clergyman and teacher at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Florence Sanderson (Bennett) Lonsdale, 1894-1972, was a nurse and community worker. Tom Lonsdale emigrated to Canada in 1908 from England. He studied education and received his BA and BD in Alberta. From 1925 to 1958 Lonsdale was minister at Banff's Rundle Memorial United Church. Lonsdale was active in local organizations such as the Rotary Club and Senior Friends and was particularly interested in local theatre, being one of the founders of the Banff Literary and Dramatic Society. During the Second World War, Lonsdale served as chaplain at the prisoner of war camp at Ozada, near Seebe, Alberta. After retiring in 1958, Lonsdale joined the Banff School of Fine Arts, first as a student and later as a sketching instructor.
- Florence Lonsdale nursed in England during the First World War, and also in Yugoslavia and Serbia until 1920. After marriage to Tom Lonsdale in 1922 and coming to Banff in 1925, she was a member and president of the Red Cross Society for forty-three years and was involved with the Banff Literary and Dramatic Society, Girl Guides, Canadian Club and the Women's Missionary Society.

- The Wilson family were guides, outfitters and ranchers at Morley, Kootenay Plains, Banff and Nordegg, Alberta, Canada. Thomas Edmonds (Tom) Wilson, 1859- 1933, and Minnie McDougall Wilson, 1865-1936, had six children, including sons John Clark Wilson, 1888-1932, and Thomas Edmonds (Ed) Wilson, 1892-1973. Daughters were Ada, 1886-1967?, Rene, Bessie and Dora. Tom Wilson is credited with the discovery of Lake Louise in July of 1882, while working as a packer on the Canadian Pacific Railway survey through the mountains. In 1883, Wilson established his own business at Banff, Lake Louise and Field, British Columbia. After selling the business in 1904, Tom Wilson operated a horse ranch at Kootenay Plains. He later retired to Banff. Ed Wilson was born at Morley and raised in Banff. Around 1910 he began working for Brewster Trading Company at Banff and, later, Lake Louise. Just before the First World War, he moved to Nordegg, where he worked for the Bighorn Trading Company for many years.

Ed Wilson was an amateur photographer and likely took most of the views of staff at Lake Louise and of Nordegg.

- The Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies is a trail riding organization based in Calgary, Alberta. The organization was established in 1923 with the support of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The first ride was held in 1924, and annual summer trail rides and pow-wows attracted fifteen hundred members by 1929. Many notable residents of the Bow Valley, including members of the Brewster and Moore families, Catherine Robb and Peter Whyte, and Carl Rungius have participated in trail rides. Support from the Canadian Pacific Railway ended in 1961. As of 2020, the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies remains an active organization. - Calgary Power Company was founded by banker W. Max Aitken in 1903. Aitken, who later became Lord Beaverbrook, reorganized a number of utilities as a subsidiary of his Royal Securities Company. He was joined in this venture by his friend and mentor R. B. Bennett, who served as Canadian Prime Minister from 1930 until 1935.Calgary Power Company was founded by banker W. Max Aitken in 1903. Bennett, who served as Canadian Prime Minister from 1930 until 1935. Calgary Power changed its name to TransAlta Utilities in 1981. With a service area that had outgrown Calgary decades earlier, the company's new name reflected its province-wide operation. By 1985, TransAlta provided 81 percent of the province's electricity needs. TransAlta Utilities Corporation is the largest investor-owned electric utility in Canada. TransAlta supplies electric energy to over 630,000 customers, which amounts to approximately 70 percent of Alberta's electricity consumption.

- Ulysses LaCasse (or Ulysse; or La Casse), 1888-1972, was a trail guide and national park warden at Lake Louise and Banff, Alberta, Canada. LaCasse came to Banff in 1908 and worked in various cooking jobs including trail cook for surveys and trail outfits. He guided Caroline Hinman's trail riding groups before joining the Canadian Army in Europe and Siberia. LaCasse accompanied Byron Harmon, Soapy Smith and Louis Freeman on their five hundred mile expedition through the Canadian Rockies, 1924. LaCasse was a long-time warden in the Castle Mountain and Lake Louise districts

- The Vaux family of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania were photographers, mountaineers and scientists. Mary M. Vaux, 1860-1940, George Vaux Jr., 1863-1927, and William S. Vaux Jr., 1872-1908, were the children of George Vaux (VIII) of Philadelphia. They were all involved in photography in the early 1880s and were members of the Photographic Society of Philadelphia. All three were taking photographs when the family made its first trip west in 1885. The first Vaux family photographs of the Canadian mountain west were made in 1887 during a summer trip along the Canadian Pacific Railway to Glacier House in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia in 1887.
- The family made frequent visits to the Selkirk and Rocky Mountains over the next two decades to study the Illecillewaet and other glaciers, photograph, paint and climb. George's and Mary's photographic work centred on the mountain landscape, while William's concentrated upon the movement and physical features of glaciers. Due to the size of their large format cameras, the two brothers took most of the photographs during these trips and Mary was responsible for all of the printing. William Vaux died in 1908 and George did not return to the Canadian mountains after 1911; however, Mary Vaux Walcott returned to the region virtually every summer for over forty years.
