Description: Two knitted wool, snug fitting hats. (a) navy blue, machine knitted of very fine yarn much in the shape of a skullcap or beanie, and is gathered together at the top with a short 2 cm tail at the centre like a beret. Different stitch patterns form very subtle bands around hat, seamed up the back. (b) blue, hand knitted with wide 7 cm cuff. Body of cap knitted in shape of beret, which, when the cuff is folded up, appears as if gathered around the edges with a slightly rounded top.

Title: Touring Skis

Date: 1930 – 1940

Material: wood; skin; metal

Dimensions: 8.50 x 200.0 cm

Description: Varnished light brown, solid wood curved skis, that are turned gently upward at toe, thicker at the point, and with a slight thickening at the binding. Scored in the wood and painted dark brown 24.5cm from the tips is “Chalet” underneath that the Dodds logo, a cabin with trees and snow, and underneath that “Harvey E. Dodds Limited”. Metal shoe clamps are screwed on side of the skis for cables which are attached to the front metal release pieces with clasps; embossed on the metal binding piece, in script is “Skirite”; scored on the ski between the front metal release mechanism and the toe plate is an “H” and underneath “6 3/4”; leather straps (two different leather pieces, one black, one brown) are attached to the metal toe binding. The ski that has the brown leather strap (a) has a red (part of it is missing) paper stamp glued on, written in black “300”. There is a screwed on metal toe plate engraved with “Made in Canada”, underneath “Patent 367562”, underneath that “Chalet” and underneath that “Harvey E. Dodds Limited”. “Deluxe” is engraved on each ski but is partially hidden by the back end of the metal shoe plate.

Description: Junior Combined skiing trophy presented by Jim Brewster "Championship Canadian Rockies Downhill & Slalom 1936. Silver plate skis on end with ski pole forming tripod on a metal base 8.8 dia. Skis are 19.5 long modelled realistically with buckle bindings and cable, etc. Ski pole has wrist strap. A wreath of leaves lays on the bindings and a smaller wreath behind the skis and pole. Turned brown wood base with silver plated name plates around it.

Description: Two pairs of shiny, navy blue nylon, ski warm-up pants, with full zippers down the entire length of each leg on the outside seam so that the pants open up completely. (a) white side zippers, plain, straight legged style with pocket like opening 15.0 cm on each side above zipper. Waistband gathered slightly at back with elastic inside casing. Pants entirely lined with quilted blue nylon. Waist band closes at each side with velcro tab, and has small cloth loop with metal ring at end on right side. At inside seam at bottom of each leg is semi-circular patch of imitation leather. Zippers open from bottom up. (b) dark blue zippers essentially as (a) above except that waistband closes on each side with double heavy hooks and eyes, 19.0 cm opening above zipper fastens over flap with two heavy metal dome snaps, and imitation leather patch covers inside seam and around entire back of leg edge.
