Key is a slotted brass rod which, when it is intruded to the lock, pulls in the tines hinged at one end only of the locking block. The pulled-in tines can then pass through an opening which they could not otherwise pass. (c) functions in the same way as (a) and (b) but the lock itself is in the shape of a bulldog, and the locking bar extends through the mouth of the dog, making its tongue. The brass of the dog is striped.
