Description: A soft belt of red violet velvet with large silver buckle. Velvet is sewn into long tube and gathered slightly at end where attached to buckle. Two part buckle hooks together with large hook and eye on back. Cast buckle shaped like two pointed cinquefoils butting together at the flat side, each containing a female dancing figure in very high relief. Figure has firm breasts and tiny waist, and is wearing draped bloomers and tall headdress. Scrolls and flowers form garland around figure. Smooth border around pebbly background surface, follows shape of buckle each side of buckle has bar soldered across back to attach belt. Velvet attached one side only with loose basting stitches around bar.

Description: Eight small souvenir paper fans with thin bamboo handles. Red is most dominant colour on all fans. Fans (a-f) are palmate in shape while (g-i) are smaller and circular. All five have a little mirror placed upper left center, and a blue and yellow fan motif at the base where handle meets paper. (a) image of Japanese woman, bottom left, in 3/4 profile facing right, Japanese male, upper right, faces woman. Small mirror makes up one side of a suspended box. Both figures have bright red lips. (b) Male figure bottom left, looks upwards towards figure of Japanese woman, upper left. Mirror in shape of full moon in background is partially hidden by midground post bearing Japanese calligraphy. (c) Two Japanese males in 3/4 profile facing each other, dressed in official looking clothing. Both are mustached. Mirror appears as one side of street lantern in background. Dimensions: 36.0 x 71.25 cm

Description: This triptych features three women: one per panel. In the first panel is a woman standing holding a rope which is cut of by the edge of paper. Her head is facing right and down looking into the second panel where the rope she is holding is attached to a cart. This cart contains a very large basket of flowers, and a women is crouching down by the cart holding a beautiful red scarf. The carts wheel goes into the third panel where a woman holding a small child stands. This woman’s body is facing towards the right, but her head turned down and to the left to view the cart. There is no background in any of the scenes, except for a blossoming tree behind the cart.

Description: A purse of blue grey silk with ivory battens at drawstring closure, and embroidered beaded figures of man and woman dancing. Purse is essentially a square with a panel along the sides and bottom for width, with a stiff panel inserted at the bottom between lining and purse. Top draws closed with a silver metallic cord through a short ivory batten on the front and back causing the bag to form two pleats on either side. Ends of cord have red and grey beaded loop tassels. Bag lined front, back and bottom with pink silk. Figures beaded on front of purse depict woman in yellow dress and man in green trousers and pink jacket holding top hat while they are dancing.
