There is a single thread at 9.5 cm from the blunt end that acts as a fulcrum to hang the rod. b) A violin-shaped case made of carved bamboo that is hinged with brass at the end of the stem. A braided rattan ring slides down the stem to secure it when closed. There are carved areas insidethe case to fit the pan, rod and weight. The case is marked with a symbol carved into the outside. There is also a red and white paper inside with Chinese characters and “Ex.B Harry Sam” handwritten.

Between each steplike series on the buff background is an oblique double zig-zag line running from bottom to top of the basket. Lip is finished with three rows of twining of a lighter brown colour, pattern not visible on inside. Paper tag rimmed with metal is attached with cord and wax through lip of basket; no writing is visible.

Rim of hat is banded with brown bars and brown and black line beneath. Bottom has band of black and brown surrounding a series of brown parallelograms forming a circle. Centre of base is a circle of lighter brown. The hat is a twining technique over ribs radiating from the centre with extra ribs added to expand the shape, design not visible on inside but mottled pattern in reverse of outer pattern is vaguely seen against the brown interior.

The bag is lined with printed yellow fabric and has two handles that are tied together with a strip of hide.
