Rattle carved from burled piece of wood. Top burl has been hollowed and filled with small pebbles? and capped with a round flat slice of bone. Burl just beneath has been carved to represent a bison head painted black with claws added as horns and beads inserted as eyes. Top burl has been stained yellow on front with picture of flying eagle, and green on back with drawing of dog's head. Bone at top painted around each nail head with a circle of black outlined in red and a green star at the centre. 'Neck' of buffalo painted with bands of red, black, yellow, green and brown. Three feathers tied in group attached around bottom of handle with a string of sinew.
