The sliding piece can be reversed to display a glass tube mercury-filled thermometer attached to a brass plaque scaled from 10o to 120o (Fahrenheit). The inside of the case is marked “183” in pencil and there is a brass plaque on the box labelled “Charles Wilder Co. N.Y.” and “Williams, Brown and Earle Phila”.
