- A Candle Lamp for use in a dark room. The foundation of the Candle Lamp consists of a square metal base (a) (8.5 X 8.5 X0.9 cm), which contains a raised circular ring that serves to hold the candle (b) (4.0 cm diameter X 1.0 cm height) in place. Once the lit candle is mounted on the metal base, the collapsible red canvas housing (c) (15.2 X 8.0 X 0.5 cm) is raised around it and another square metal piece (d) (8.7 X 8.8 X0.7 cm) is placed on top. The top piece functions as a chimney and has circular opening in the center, allowing smoke to exit and air to enter the lamp in order to fuel the flame.Centered near the top on one face of the red canvas housing there is black text that reads: “THE KODAK CANDLE LAMP”; “MADE IN U.S.A. BY THE EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY ROCHESTER. N.Y”. At the bottom of this face, on the metal frame, is a silver sticker with a black border and black text that reads: “SOLE(?) DISTRIBUTOR(?) IN CANADA CANADIAN KODAK CO., LIMITED”. In the 1914 issue of the Kodak Catalogue, the cost of this candle lamp was $0.25.

The upper cylinder has at its front end a dish reflector out of the centre of which protrudes a jet, and out of which also protrudes a flint wheel spark generator for lighting the jet. Atop the cylinder is a tightly flanged hinged cap which can snap into place over and into an opening 2.0 x 1.5 cm oval; in front of the cap opening is a swivel device, probably for varying the flow through the jet. At the back of the cylinder is a hook mounted vertically by rivets and a clasp horizontally, for mounting the lamp on a miner's helmet. Marks:"Justrite/Pat, May 7, 1912/ Pat. Oct 28, 1913/ Pat. - A small, adjustable, gold wire bracelet with a small gold heart at the front set with a tiny seed pearl.
