Abstract
Chic Scott is a man of unconventional firsts. The first Canadian to summit a Himalayan peak, the first Canadian to guide in the European Alps, and he was part of the first team to climb Mount Assiniboine in winter. He is also a local mentor, historian and ski pioneer who has spent his whole life touching the lives of all those who call the Rockies home. Chic is perhaps known best for the ambitious grand ski traverses he achieved; in essence he has broken the trail for an entire generation of adventure skiers who follow. His writing and books have reached mountain communities further afield, spreading the rich history of Canadian mountaineering to outdoor enthusiasts across Canada and around the globe. This booklet celebrates the life of Chic Scott with his most memorable contributions to mountain life and tales told by his close friends. (from Alpine Club of Canada website)

A travel case made from some hard light-weight black material (possibly metal) with a hinged lid that closes with metal latches on either side of a latched lock. Metal brackets on all of the corners and reinforcing along all edges - wooden runners along the bottom of the case horizontally. There is a leather strap that clips into loops on the short sides of the box as well as a leather travel tag. Attached to the leather strap is a yellow Canadian Pacific Railway travel tag with a piece of string. Throughout the exterior are various travel labels, mostly torn. On the lid is a white rectangular “Canadian Pacific” label that reads “Nicholas Morant, Special Photographer Canadian Pacific Ltd. care CP Transport” in typed text and “Banff Alta” written in black ink above a scratched out typed “Victoria, B.C.” Also on the lid is a piece of masking tape with “LEICA & FILM & ACCESSORIES” written in blue ink possibly by Nick Morant. The interior is lined with beige fabric and both the main body and the interior of the lid are divided into two equal compartments. In one of the body compartments are wooden slats that most likely sit on supports inside each part to create additional compartments at the bottom of the case, but they are not in place. The compartments in the lid are held closed with small pieces of leather that snap onto the front panels which hinge down on strips of brown fabric tape. Inside the case and lid compartments are a Leica camera and various accessories,
