- Herbert E. Sampson, 1871-1962, was a lawyer and mountaineer at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Sampson was a life member of the Alpine Club of Canada, 1910, President, 1930-1932, and Honorary President, 1945. He attended all but six annual mountaineering camps between 1911 and 1956 and made over seventy-five ascents, including two first ascents.

- Howard Palmer, 1883-1944, was a lawyer, businessman and mountaineer at Massachusetts, USA. Palmer was a prominent climber and explorer in the Rocky and Selkirk Mountains of western Canada between 1908 and 1927, completing about fifty first ascents. In the period before WWI, Palmer travelled extensively in the Selkirk Mountains with a group of mountaineering enthusiasts headed by E. W. D. Holway. Palmer published "Mountaineering and Exploration in the Selkirks" in 1914, was an active photographer, and worked on numerous topographical maps and expedition plans, including that of the 1925 Mount Logan expedition. In 1923, Palmer and Allen Carpe travelled, climbed and mapped in the Maligne Lake area. Howard Palmer was active in the American Alpine Club.

- J. Monroe "Roy" Thorington, 1894-1989, was an ophthalmologist, mountaineer and mountain historian at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Thorington was a pre-eminent climber and explorer in the Canadian Rockies starting in 1922. He studied the Freshfield and Lyell Glaciers for 22 years and explored and mapped the Purcell Range, British Columbia. Thorington wrote approximately 300 publications on mountaineering, mountain history and the Canadian Rockies. He was active in numerous organizations, particularly the American Alpine Club.
