- Predominant colours are pink, blue, purple, green and brown. The painting is dominated by the pyramidal-shaped Mt. Assiniboine and the icefield below it. It appears to be an aerial view of sunrise on the mountain. The foreground is comprised of rocks showing through a snow-covered approach to the mountain peak. The rocks are various shades of very dark blue, lighter blue and brown. To the viewer’s left the snow is tinged in various shades of pink as the morning light strikes it and the view to the right is still in the blue shades of shadow. The artist’s signature in white is in this area. The middle of the painting is the pink glow of the sun on snow with some shaded snow and rocks still showing to the viewer’s right. The top-half is a snow-covered Mt. Assiniboine with brown rock bands; viewer’s right in the sun’s light and viewer’s left in the shade. Beyond the mountain are hills and valleys of pink, blue and green. The sky is a very deep shade of purple and blue.

- A watercolour landscape painting of mountains and a lake. There are three grey mountains in the background and behind them is a cloudless blue sky. In the foreground is a blue-green lake. On the bottom right, part of the shore with three large rocks, is visible. In the centre at the bottom, a few branches and two logs are breaking through the water. On the left side a large boulder sits in the water. In the middle ground there is forest along the lake shore. The forest starts out of frame on the right and extends just over halfway across the painting. Behind the forest on the left are two green hills. Greys, blues, greens and brown are the primary colours used. The artist signature is in the bottom rhc. Au verso, written in pencil along the bottom edge is, “At Lake Minnewanka aug 28/38 Doris Cormie” and also in pencil in the centre of the paper is “27” with a circle around it. Just right of centre near the top is written, “5334”.

- Colours are predominately black, green, white, grey, purple and blue. New-growth evergreens and charred black remnants of trees dominate the painting. Middle third of the painting through the charred trees is Storm Mountain range with mist and cloud obscuring tops of peaks; there is evidence of snow on the mountain range and through the trees on the lower slopes. In the top-third, a stormy sky prevails; several dark clouds with vestiges of blue sky showing. The foreground of new-growth trees are painted in different shades of green, mostly light green, darker green in the background and on the slopes. Dominating the viewer’s left is a tree burned black reaching from top to bottom, charred black trees in the middle half reaching up to the mist, and charred black trees on the right reaching from the new-growth forest floor to the top of painting. Viewer’s eye is drawn into the mountain valley foreground to the wooded uphill of seemingly unburned slopes.
