Inside, one half has a full, deep pocket behind a shallower pocket in front, both lined with gold silk. Other side has expanding pocket with folded gussets at the sides, and small flap which fastens with a flat ivory clip around a thread loop on the front of the pocket. Pocket lined with gold twilled fabric. Double pocket side stitched together at sides with brown cord in a slip stitch allowing those pockets to expand slightly for fullness.

Opens into flat parallelogram 8.0 x 17.5 cm, and is lined completely with brown, beige and blue fabric printed with squares of flowers and birds. Each flap can be unsnapped to expose small triangular pocket each side. (b) football shaped, made of three, stiff, lens shaped pieces of white fabric printed with green lines and small dots. - Canvas duffle bag in dull grey-green with a reinforced bottom, a drawstring close, and a small pocket just below the opening of the bag. Written in black ink along the length of one side is “NICHOLAS MORANT BANFF ALTA.” There are also illegible words stenciled in black along the length of the bag near Morant’s name - part of it is cut off by the reinforcing material around the bottom. Stenciled in black inside the bag where the pocket is sewn is “MAKERS JEUNE BROS. VICTORIA” in a circle. Attached to the drawstring is a wooden name tag with Morant’s information stenciled in faded red paint.

- A cylindrical canvas bag, tan/gold coloured with a patch of lightweight, cream-coloured canvas (38.0cmx 31.0cm wide) hand sewn on over a large hole. One round piece of lightweight, cream-coloured canvas (28.0cm radius) is sewn on the bottom; attached to this is a rectangular piece of canvas folded over and stitched, creating a handle. On the top of the bag there are twelve metal grommets, through which a corded rope is threaded through creating a drawstring for closure. The cord is loop-knotted and there are brass-coloured metal pieces clamped on the folded-over ends to prevent them from unravelling. The manufacturer’s name is obliterated by the patch covering the hole; visible: “RY” underneath that “RES LTD” , underneath that “R B C”. On the opposite side of the patch, on the sewn seam, is a (Ken Jones’s monogram) “K” with a “J” leading off the top of the “K” so it is higher than the K, in black indelible ink. This is repeated below the patch, but the “J” is partially covered by the patch. Near this, printed horizontally with black ink “KEN. JONES,” underneath that “GOLDEN, B.C.,” and underneath that “CANADA.”. This is repeated on the other side, except for “CANADA”, but is very faded.
