Typical ice axe, well-used, with head (blade) and two long metal strips extending 14 cm. from head (blade) riveted to the wooden shaft, two rivets to each side. “WERK... PMES” encircled and “ORIGINAL ASCHENBRENNER GES.GESCH.” stamped on the head. There is an a “M” scored in the wooden shaft 4 cm. from the metal head. A screw is embedded in the wooden shaft 25.5cm from the pointed metal tip.

Description
Typical ice axe, well used, pointed pick, curved adze and pointed slightly curved spike with serated (4) blade and two long metal strips extending 11 cm. from head (blade) riveted to the wooden shaft, two rivets to each side. There is a round hole in the bottom of the axe head where it fits onto the wooden shaft. Neatly carved into the wooden shaft 1.50 cm from the head are the words “MT. COOK” and underneath 12349 and at 2.5 cm. there is an “EM” scored in the wooden shaft. Engraved on pick blade: "J. Charlet a Chamonix” and to the left of this is an ibex logo. On the metal tube that extends from the wooden shaft there is a copper-coloured vertical line (might be a solder line).
