- Francis Lorn Wellman, 1883-1919, was a guide and outfitter at Banff and Morley, Alberta, Canada. Wellman guided for Brewster Brothers, ca.1903, after first working with Tom Wilson's outfit. He was later involved with the Park Dairy in Banff and bought the former Dave McDougall ranch near Morley. Frank Wellman and Edith (Potts) Wellman, 1887-1949, had three children, Lorna, Edith and William. Edith Wellman's father, William John Potts, managed the Albert Hotel at Banff.

- The Wheatley family were coal miners and shippers at Bankhead, Blairmore and Banff, Alberta, Canada. Frank M. Wheatley Sr., 1877-1958, began coal mining in Yorkshire at age twelve and continued in the business for almost sixty-five years. Mr. and Mrs. Wheatley came to Bankhead in 1908-1909 and worked there until closure of the mines in 1922. Frank Wheatley was involved in union activities locally in Bankhead and nationally after leaving Bankhead. Wheatley's sons started a small coal mine, Anthracite Collieries, near Banff in 1926. Frank Sr. was involved after 1930 and the family operated this concern until 1953.

- William Henderson Watts (1870-1955) was born in Baltimore, MD on February 21, 1870 to William Watts, Jr and Hannah Amanda (Henderson) Watts. He graduated Virginia Theological Seminary in 1900; ordained a deacon October 1900 by Bishop Whittle; ordained a priest June 1901 by Bishop Gibson. He married Mary Gardiner Bach on January 26, 1903.

Letters cover the period 1916-1920 and were originally part of a scrapbook compiled by William Henderson Watts which was arranged in chronological order between 1912 and 1924 and contained approximately 200 documents.

Putnam has written about Glacier House, the centre of alpinism in the Selkirks during the 1880s-1900s and about Swiss guides. - William O. Field, 1904-1994, of Massachusetts, U.S.A., was a noted geologist with the American Geographical Society and an expert on mountain glaciers of the northern hemisphere. He made trips to the Canadian Rockies with his father, William Osgood Field, during the 1920s even before graduating from Harvard in 1926. William O. Field studied key glaciers in British Columbia and Alberta from 1922 until 1981.

- William "Bill" Royle (1905-1980) moved to Banff from Lethbridge in 1952 with his mother (Mary Elizabeth) and two young sons (Bernard and Walter), following the death of his wife. William started the business Banff Plumbing and Heating Ltd., which he operated until his death. William and his brother, John J. Royle, were also involved with a laundromat business in Banff. From its inception in 1953, William also worked as director and president of the Banff Park Savings and Credit Union (now Bow Valley Credit Union). In his spare time, William volunteered with the Banff Boy Scouts, as well as St. Mary's Church in Banff, the Seniors' Society and the Alberta Council of the Aging. William's son, Bernard, tragically passed away in a plane crash in 1969 while searching for new heliskiing routes in British Columbia with his friend, John Gow, who survived.

Edith Belle (Lee) Wing (February 22, 1925 - 2014) was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Edith and Fred married in 1945 and had four children: Carole Elaine (Wing) Gray, (April 13, 1947) born Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, Banff, Alberta; Paul Delano Wing, (January 6, 1952), born Calgary General Hospital, Calgary, Alberta; Brian Frederick Wing, (July 27, 1957) born Calgary, Alberta; Donald Francis Wing (August 30, 1960) Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, Banff Alberta. Edith and Fred Wing were the first Chinese family to settle in Banff National Park and owned and operated the restaurant The Dominion Cafe. This has since been recognized by Parks Canada and the Heritage Society of Banff. Following the death of Fred Wing, Edith Wing sold the business and the family moved to Calgary. The Dominion Cafe had a 99 year lease with the Government of Canada. Edith Wing took up photography in the 1940s as a hobby and documented the everyday as well as her family life in Banff. She photographed up until 1968 when her husband, Fred Wing, passed away. She used a Rolleiflex and Kodak 616 Vigilant.

- Yuk Soy Goon, 1896-1978, was born in Kwan Tung, China. Yuk Soy left China in 1911 to find work in Canada in order to help support his family. He made six extended trips back to China to visit his family. Yuk Soy worked in Vancouver, B.C. and Calgary, Alberta before moving to Banff where his cousin Goon Sir Wing was working. Yuk Soy worked for Dr. Robert Brett at the Sanitarium Hotel and in 1930 went to work for Jim Brewster as a house servant until 1947. During his employment with Jim Brewster, Yuk Soy was occasionally hired out and in the summer of 1937 he worked as camp cook for Erling Strom at Mount Assiniboine. Yuk Soy then worked at the Mount Royal Hotel as a chef, retiring in 1965 as head chef. In 1955, Yuk Soy's wife and son Howie Chung Hing Goon (b.1948) arrived in Banff from China and the family lived in a house on Beaver Street behind the Mount Royal Hotel until 1960 when they purchased a new house on Lynx Street.

- Samuel Livingston (1831-1897) was born in Ireland, and immigrated to North America as a young man to participate in the California Gold Rush of 1849. Sam continued travelling and panning for gold around the northwestern United States and southern British Columbia area in the 1850s and 1860s. After marrying Jane Howse in 1865, Sam settled near Elbow River and established a buffalo skin trading business. Sam and Jane had 14 children together, including 8 sons and 6 daughters. In 1876, Sam and his family moved closer to Fort Calgary, where he worked with John Glenn and became one of the first farmers in the area. Sam was a founding director of the Calgary District Agricultural Society in 1884, as well as founding director of the Calgary branch of the Canadian North-West Territories Stock Association in 1886. Sam was also an early trustee for the Glenmore School in 1888.
