- Burton Wheatley was an engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway company, who died during a railway accident in 1894 which occurred at Field Hill, B.C. The Wheatley family were related to Ivy "Willie" Morant (1910-1986), wife of photographer Nicholas Morant.

Topics include New Yea's Eve celebrations, going to the movies, spending time on the beach, painting/sketching [including experimenting with watercolour paints and different kinds of paper], people and events in Concord and in Banff, descriptions of Honolulu and the local people [including dress, food, and boats], weather, watching US Navy ships and planes come in and out of Pearl Harbor, listening to the radio [mostly news and operas], sketching people on the beach, the other guests at their hotel, going out for meals, celebrating Pete's birthday, descriptions of meals, planning their trip to Japan, painting portraits of locals, making canvases and easels, developing films [photographs], the Moores and the Rungiuses arriving in early February, shopping, watching various military Reviews and parades [usually as part of ceremonies for visiting dignitaries], descriptions of various ships in port, flowers and trees, birds, showing some of their work at the Art Academy at the invitation of the Honolulu Art Association in early March, going to cocktail parties and dances with the Moores and Rungiuses, booking their passage to Japan with Canadian Pacific, and leaving Hawaii in mid-March.

- The Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies is a trail riding organization based in Calgary, Alberta. The organization was established in 1923 with the support of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The first ride was held in 1924, and annual summer trail rides and pow-wows attracted fifteen hundred members by 1929. Many notable residents of the Bow Valley, including members of the Brewster and Moore families, Catherine Robb and Peter Whyte, and Carl Rungius have participated in trail rides. Support from the Canadian Pacific Railway ended in 1961. As of 2020, the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies remains an active organization. - File consists of lantern slides depicting Rocky Mountain scenic views, mountains, wildlife, horse rides. Includes Banff, Yoho, Lake O'Hara, Banff-Jasper Highway and surrounding areas. Slides are a mix of colour and black & white photographs; some images are printed directly onto one pane of glass while others are transparencies on celullose film mounted between 2 glass panes. There is no order to the different mediums. Slides were accompanied with 7 typed text papers listing the slide numbers and details of the images. See Notes for list.

- History / Biographical
- Lantern slides were used by government agencies to illustrate holdings and acquisitions during meetings. This could take the form of text-based or photographic images. This collection contains photographic images of mainly Jasper National Park that were taken by the Department of the Interior or the Department of Extension, University of Alberta. The Department of the Interior was founded in 1873 and was responsible for settlement and development of western Canada until 1936. This included surveying what is now Alberta and then promoting and settling the area through a massive immigration campaign. Coloured lantern slides would have been utilized in this capacity to realistically showcase the Rocky Mountain region to officials in Ottawa. The Department of Extension at the University of Alberta was founded in 1912 with the aim of sharing the University's collections and knowledge with rural communities throughout Alberta. Based out of Edmonton, the Department of Extension used travelling libraries, magic lantern shows, and public lectures to accomplish this goal. It is still an active department at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
