Small green ship's wheel conceals the bathroom vent, bathroom is late addition, c. 1930 constructed from wooden planks of varying widths. Roof possibly reshingled at time of addition. False roof S.E. side was likely added at time of bathroom construction. Corners of log portion are dovetailed. Cabin faces S.W. two windows on N.W. side (85.0 x 65.0 & 85.0 x 70.). Bathroom window on south side (60 x 32.5 cm). Chinking between logs is oakum faced with concrete. Electrical conduit on back, N.W. side and gas conduit on N.E. side added in 1970s for John Morse when he used cabin as a woodworking shop. Both lines are connected to the Whyte house. Two chimneys, one encased in brick at N.E. end, the other in metal on N.W. side. Cabin/sits on concrete plinth probably dating from 1972. All base logs have been replaced by stonework c.1975.

- Description
- A child’s snowshoes circa 1920, made of wood. The snowshoes have bent wooden frames nailed together at the tail and toe is squared-off. Bracing the frame are two wooden bars which separate the gut webbing into three sections; the toe section and the section closest to the tail is laced in fine gut, tightly woven, the middle is heavier gut webbing wound around both wooden pieces, and interlaced with the finely woven toe and tail sections. There is a hole under the toe and just beneath that, a strip of white woven canvas to tie over a boot. The toe and tail have holes through the frame where the gut is laced through and there are tufts of red wool strung through the holes as decoration.

- A skate sharpener, (without the blade) consisting of two pieces of carved wood connected on the bottom by a flat metal bar. One piece of wood (a) is wider at the top than the other piece (b); the bottom parts of the pieces are the same shape and size. (Note for storage* the metal bar is now attached to (b) only.) With the metal bar in front of the viewer, the distance between the two pieces is 14.0cmx2.0cm wide; the piece on the right measures the same on the the bottom and in the height (14.0cmx2.0cm wide); it is at the top where they differ. The top part of the viewer’s left is 2.10cm wide and the top part of the viewer’s right hand piece is 4.50cm wide and then it curves down after the wingnut, from there it is identical to the piece on the viewer’s left. From the bottom to the inwardly curved part is 4.50cm high; the flat part is 4.40cm wide. The metal bar connecting the two ends measures 35.5cmx0.80cm wide. On viewer’s left, it has a hole and is connected to the wood piece by a screw; this allows it to move up and down. On the viewer’s right it can be connected by sliding it behind a nut and screw and tightening it until it is secure. There are four round holes measuring 1.50cm radius, bored into each piece, 0.70 from the top, and 5.0cm down another two. The wood is sliced through up to next bored hole and through the top, 8.70cm between the holes, same radius 4.80cm distance between two holes, open to top for inserting the skate tubes, blades up. There is a metal rod between,esch end, connected by two wing nuts, one at either end to secure the skate so a wet stone can be used to sharpen them. There is a separate piece ( 4.5cmx2.3cm wide) added onto the right piece, front part, to make it match the back; it is nailed onto the main piece.

There is a round hole in the bottom of the axe head where it fits onto the wooden shaft. Neatly carved into the wooden shaft 1.50 cm from the head are the words “MT. COOK” and underneath 12349 and at 2.5 cm. there is an “EM” scored in the wooden shaft. Engraved on pick blade: "J. Charlet a Chamonix” and to the left of this is an ibex logo. On the metal tube that extends from the wooden shaft there is a copper-coloured vertical line (might be a solder line).
