- History / Biographical
- Wilfred Langdon Kihn (1898-1957) was an American artist born in Brooklyn, New York. Kihn was best known for his illustrated portraits of American and Canadian Indigenous people, including members of the Blackfoot, Navajo, Pueblo and Tsimshian communities. The individuals in Kihn's portraits were most often depicted wearing traditional and ceremonial clothing rather than their typical clothes. Kihn's art career began in 1919 when he travelled to Montana and created some of his earliest portraits while visiting the Blackfeet Reservation. Throughout the 1920s, Kihn travelled extensively in Canada and the United States, creating portraits of individuals from a diverse range of Indigenous communities. Many of these portraits were put on display as part of a travelling exhibition organized by the Brooklyn Museum. In 1935, Kihn was commissioned by National Geographic to produce Indigenous portraits for publications; this ultimately led to a two-decade career with National Geographic.

- Banff Winter Carnival, also known as Winter Sports of the Canadian Rockies, was the first post-war winter sports programme held in Banff, Alberta. The organization had Banff directors, Calgary directors and Directors-at-large from Alberta and outside the province. A wide variety of social and sports events took place under the organization's direction.

Content pertains to Eleanor Luxton, relatives and friends of the Luxton family. Includes individual and group photographs of numerous unidentified individuals on horseback and on foot, posing by family homes and ranches [likely in and around the Bow Valley]; and unidentified members of an Indigenous community [likely Stoney community members in Morley]. Scrapbook also contains various small clippings and symbols / pictures pertaining to academies, clubs and political groups based in Canada, England and the United States; invitations sent to Mr. and Mrs. McDougall to attend an Old Timers' Association event in 1908, and one in 1910 in Calgary ; four blank postcards depicting attractions in London, England; four annotated Christmas cards mailed to the Luxton family; one annotated postcard sent to Mrs. George H. - The Mile-Hi Lodge in Banff was owned and operated by John D. "Jack" Anderson (1917-1964). Anderson purchased the property located at 402 Banff Ave. in 1956 and operated the Mile-Hi Lodge until his death in 1964. The lodge remained in business under Anderson's estate until at least 1969, but was likely closed prior to the property's sale in 1973.
