Needlepoint sampler by Lucy Ann Andrew, aged 11 years, 1873. Mounted in a shadowbox with wooden frame and plexiglass front. The sampler is done in cross-stitch, multi-coloured (brown, dark grey, light grey and blue) on a loosely woven ecru linen. It depicts an alphabetical display of double upper and single lowercase needlepoint work including “Lucy Ann Andrew, her sampler, aged 11 years, August 6, 1873”, located in bottom one-third portion of sampler. There is a stitched hem around three-quarters of what would have been unfinished weft and warp.

A varnished chromograph on cardboard with the texture of canvas showing. A metal 24 ounce measuring jug with handle. The measuring jug has a slight lip for easy pouring. The scale has been inscribed on the inside of the measuring jug and contains both ounces and cubic centimeters or milliliters symbolized by “c.c.” The scale representing ounces begins at 2 ounces and increases in 2 ounce increments to 24 ounces. The cubic centimeter scale begins at 100 c.c. and increases in increments of 100 c.c. to 700 c.c. and then by 50 c.c. more to 750. The bottom of the measuring jug has an inscription that reads: “Vollrath” in cursive writing followed by “STAINLESS STEEL WARE” “8324” all in upper case letters. Vollrath is a manufacturer of stainless steel and aluminum parts and products for food service and custom uses.

Description
Section of tree mounted on rustic plaque, "J L" "JU 5 1876 AD". Bark forms frame around scar baring wood of the tree and bearing the deeply carved letters, plaque behind is single, thick plank of wood, beveled along the edges in a wide (3.7) band. Band textured with a pattern of fingertip depressions, tree blaze cut off square at top and bottom, but curves back into plaque at sides. Back of plaque reveals it is actually two planks skillfully joined, with 3 small knotholes, and 2 holes drilled through at opposite,diagonal corners holding deeply set screws which attach the blaze. At centre top is small, metal mounting plate with upside-down keyhole, and hole drilled through wood behind (for hanging plaque) front of plaque and bark of blaze have been shellacked, penciled mounting plate, "T".

The second panel features a table covered with food and flowers. 3 active women are gathered around the table, almost blending into the decorations while a fourth woman kneels in the trc facing right. A rectangular descriptive panel is in the trc. The third panel features a separate room in the tlc where the men are gathered around a table and served by women. 5 women are gathered in the foreground of this panel playing instruments and holding small bowls; they are facing the table that is in the second panel.
