Description
Two identical metal tripods with burgundy legs attached with white string. Three adjustable knobs are located at the top of the tripod allowing the metal bar inside to be adjusted maximizing the height. The folding and collapsible legs extend away from the vertical center in three sections to a length of 54.0 cm. A fourth adjustable knob, located at the bottom of the metal bar and meeting the top of the legs, allows the user to extend the legs of the tripod to the desired height. Each of the four knobs has the maker’s mark inscribed and reads: “ACME- LITE-CHICAGO- ” around the circumference. The feet are at a 45 degree angle and have a rubber stopper on the bottom giving the portable three-legged frame greater stability to resist lateral forces. A tripod may have been used for motion and still photography to prevent movement or to help achieve precise framing of an image.

Abstract
"An entertaining and provocative look at Hollywood's depiction of Native Americans, Reel Injun journeys through a century of cinema to set the record straight. Traveling through the heartland of the U.S., to the Black Hills and Monument Valley, Cree filmmaker Neil Diamond examines how the myth of the movie "Injun" has influenced the world's understanding -- and misunderstanding -- of Natives. With clips from hundreds of classic and recent films document the shift from nuanced silent-era heroes to the Western's "noble savage" stereotype, leading up to the bourgeoning Native independent scene of Smoke Signals and The Fast Runner. Containing candid interviews with celebrated directors, writers, actors and activists, including Clint Eastwood, Robbie Robertson, Sacheen Littlefeather, John Trudell, and Russell Means, Reel Injun is an insightful and essential compendium for understanding the racial politics of Hollywood and the continuing artistic vibrancy of Native peoples." -- Back of container.

Contents
This revised and updated edition details the latest legal developments surrounding tribal leadership and the state of governance on Canadian reserves. When Bad Medicine first appeared in 2010 it was an immediate sensation, a Canadian bestseller that sparked controversy and elicited praise nationwide for its unflinchingly honest portrayal of tribal corruption in a First Nation in Alberta. Now, in a new, revised and updated edition, retired Alberta jurist John Reilly sketches the latest legal developments surrounding tribal leadership at Morley and the state of governance on Canadian reserves, as well as national developments such as Canada’s long-delayed assent to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, currently wending its way through the Senate, and the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Early in his career, Judge John Reilly did everything by the book. His jurisdiction included a First Nations community plagued by suicide, addiction, poverty, violence and corruption. He steadily handed out prison sentences with little regard for long-term consequences and even less knowledge as to why crime was so rampant on the reserve in the first place. In an unprecedented move that pitted him against his superiors, the legal system he was part of, and one of Canada’s best-known Indian chiefs, the Reverend Dr. Chief John Snow, Judge Reilly ordered an investigation into the tragic and corrupt conditions on the reserve. A flurry of media attention ensued. Some labelled him a racist; others thought he should be removed from his post, claiming he had lost his objectivity. But many on the Stoney reserve hailed him a hero as he attempted to uncover the dark challenges and difficult history many First Nations communities face. (From Rocky Mountain Books website)

Abstract
Crows, Cranes and Camellias: the Natural World of Ohara Koson 1877-1945 is the first publication in a Western language to discuss his corpus of work, and it has drawn upon the private Jan Perree collection (now housed in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam) for inspiration. First published In 2001, this new edition features an additional chapter on Koson's oeuvre and designs which have been discovered since the original publication of Crows, Cranes and Camellias. Including an overview of Koson's life and artistic career, augmented by a checklist of the majority of his work, select seals and signatures, this book is a valuable source for Koson collectors. --Book Jacket.
