The hunting trip took place in the Pipestone Pass region of Banff National Park. Includes camps, lakes, scenic views, target practices, and dead animals, mostly mountain goats, deer, and a coyote. Also includes enlargements and 1927 Christmas cards from various people.

Scope & Content: File pertains to a photograph album depicting a summer 1926 trip organized by Caroline Hinman to the Canadian Rockies and a hunting trip from Wilson's Ranch in September, 1926. The summer trip, made on horseback and by dogsled, began in Seebe, Alberta and ended at Lake Windermere, British Columbia, working through Banff National Park via Lake Louise, Abbot Pass, and the Lake O'Hara region. Includes scenic views of mountains, waterfalls, glaciers, camps, horses, dogs, and people - many of whom are reffered to by their initials or married names (in the case of some women). The hunting trip was possibly organized by Tom Wilson out of his Kananaskis Ranch. The party travelled north in the direction of the Saskatchewan River. Includes pictures of camps, horses, pack trains, snowfall, mountains, rivers, and people - does not include photographs of hunted animals. Also includes a single photograph of The Learned's House in Newbury Port, Massachusetts, enlargements from Rocky Mountain trips, and various cards from The Vincents and Florence Dibell Bartlett. Inserts pertain to overviews/advertisements for two 1927 trips that would have been sent out by Caroline Hinman in advance detailing routes, expectations, and prices.

Scope & Content: File pertains to photographs - mostly prints, also negatives and one glass slide - of the Mount Logan Expedition of 1925. Topics include: Going into our first camp on the bars of the Chitina River being a half days run from "Rush Pound," where we stopped and had lunch on the way in ; Packing up at Brysons, being the old camp ground of the Surveys (Barny Bryson) and from which point a trail leads out of the valley of the Chitina (rising 3000 ft) and leading to the head of the Young Creek. MacCarthy took this trail coming in coming out last summer after the reconnaissance. This is the 4th. camp out from McCarthy the next 16 miles to Short River ; Short river Camp, 5th camp out from McCarthy and only 7 miles out from Hubricks. Mountain in back on other side of Chitina Valley. Crossed Clear Water, Canon and Short river before reaching this camp ; Eastward up the valley of the Chitina Valley Tree islands and the morain covered toe of the Chitina Glacier showing. Hubricks Camp near point shown on left, just showing ; The Chitina Valley below Hubrick's Camp distant horizon being the toe of the Chitina Glacier. Mt. Logan would be, if visible, direct centre looking up Chitina Gl. ; Panorama taken from a point on the Chitina just off the N.W. corner of the Chitina Glacier toe, at an old Trig Sta. which seemed to be part of old base line. Shows the range on the south side of the Chitina Valley and the last straight down the valley of the Chitina ; All a little blurred as focus in error set at 15 yrd. Panorama of the range on the south side of the Chitina River Valley, from a point 1/3 mile east of Hubrick's Camp. Logan in distant centre in 433 & 434 [452 & 453] ; Laing in front of his dungeon (Pup Tent). The afternoon's careful inspection of Logan equipment ; Survey tripod on the bars below toe of Chitina Glacier to N.W. line of bace line poasts leading away to W. No end of base mark showing ; From the summit point of the Terminal morains of the Chitina Glacier looking straight west down the valley and showing the trench between the glacier and the N. wall of the valley up which the trail lead to the last point of horse transport, "Trail End" ; The group on the ice in front of "Trail end Camp" ; Ice of the Chitina completely covered with debris, from the shore line on the N. side looking forward to Chitina Point ; Walsh camp at the end of the Chitina Point, the side of an old survey camp of 1913, facing a stretch of water directly off the point, the junctions of the Chitina and Walsh Glaciers ; Group, as per preceding negative showing drift and exposed dry wood on beech, old shore of long since sunken lake. Hall [extreme] right. centre L to R Carpe, MacCarthy Foster ; These pictures taken towards the south over a sea of clouds obscuring the Seward and Malaspina glaciers and all the surrounding peaks leaving the top of St. Elias alone sticking up. The peak of King Mt. not more than 5 miles distant all showing, the sea of clouds showing beyond. Note the South butress of King and long ridge leading from teh peak to the right being the south wall of the King Glacier. King Col, is just below the ridge facing the picture and decending from the summit in a jagged arete ; This the only photograph I have of "Windy Camp" (16800) taken looking northward up the ice slopes followed on the ascent. Left the S.W. spur of the Logan massif ; Plateau Camp at an elevation of 17500 ft approximately, is the camp from which Mt. Logan was climbed on the 23 of June. These pictures were taken on a clear morning and it is hard to explain the failure in the results obtained. The panorama shows the upper glacier plateau below the high summits of the massif. The photograph sweeps the northern horizon through about a half circle. Distant rangers shown are those of the walsh Glacier and west end of the glacier and mountain system between the base of Logan and Kluane Lake, 60 miles eastward.

Here the ice became so bad that the two sleds were left behind, cached a further amount of equipment, including stove and robe etc. & shouldered our loads for the remaining 30 miles into Hubricks Camp ; Portraits of all but Carpe, how he came to be missed unknown. Taken the day after we got into Hubricks before the grand shave & clean up. 1 MacCarthy 2 Foster 1 Andy Taylor 3 H.F.L 1 Read 1 H.M. Laing ; The making of two boats on arrival at Hubrick's camp on the 6th of July having originally been decided upon, now abandoned on acount of the condition of the party and the length of time to build (10 days) rafts in lieu of the boats finally decided upon. Two of these commenced July 8 and completed the 10th. and the journey started down the Chitina River at 1.30 P.M. July 11th. with desastrous results to one (MacCarthur, Foster, Carpe) and reaching Rush Pond with the other (Taylor, Lambart, Read) 12.30 midnight July 12, 60 miles by stream.

July 13 ; The first negative of close up in camp by H.F.L. other by Taylor of first relays to the top of the Quartz Ridge, 1000 feet above the Cascade camp site ; The process by which, with a 700 foot alpine line we were able to get one of the hand sleds to the summit of the quartz ridge from the Cascades camp below ; Cache and group at the top of the quartz ridge. This point being about 1000 feet above Cascades ; This is a photograph looking straight down the Ogilvie glacier from a point 1000 feet above its head. Its confluence with the Logan is distinctly seen ; A mere spot in a world of ice, cascades camp as viewed from above from the summit of the Quartz Ridge. This photograph shows well the base of the cascades and the character of the glaciers entering the head of the Ogilvie Gl. ; From a rock ridge where Morgan hand enticed me one afternoon we got this of the top of St. Elias appearing through the clouds. Below the surface of the King Glacier, end of the south wall of King Trench on left ; Large scale map of coast showing Cordova, McCarthy and Logan ; H.F.L. History / Biographical: Edith Berenice Dunsworth (nee Stenton) was born in Banff on May 20, 1927. Berenice is the daughter of Joseph Alexander Stenton and Elizabeth Florence Stenton (nee Williams). Berenice had one sister, Marguerite Flora Lineker (nee Stenton). Berenice was married to Dr. Brian Dunsworth (19??-2014). Berenice's grandparents were George and Flora McKenzie and George was likely a son of the Stanford family. Berenice remembers her grandparent's house was next door to the Stanford house. Berenice's other grandparents were Percy and Elizabeth Williams who settled in Bankhead, near Banff, when they arrived from England ca.1910.

Scope & Content: Album consists of 94 pages of b&w photographs; 1 carte des visites and postcard. Photographs feature locations such as Banff, Bankhead, Lake Louise, Marble Canyon, Vermilion Lakes, and other Rocky Mountain areas. The album has some pictures of the Stanford house in Banff as well as family, friends, and events. Of note are photographs of "Peter White" and "The Artists' Cottage Mrs. Drummond." History / Biographical: Belmore Browne, d.1954, was a well-known artist who lived and worked at Banff and Seebe, Alberta, Canada and in the United States. Browne and Agnes Evelyn Sibley, 1882-1976, were married in 1913. In 1921, they bought property in Banff for a summer home and with their children, George, 1918-1958, and Evelyn, 1915-1994, travelled extensively throughout the 1920s and 1930s in pursuit of subjects for Belmore Browne's paintings. In 1946, the Brownes built a home near Seebe. Agnes Browne was a diarist for the family and much of her extensive writing centres around the career of Belmore Browne. Her daughter Evelyn consolidated the diaries in the 1980s. George Browne was also an artist.

Scope & Content: Fonds consists mainly of diary excerpts and transcripts, 1912-1913, 1921-1954; also includes a guest book, 1924-1956, posters, ca.1942, publications relating the story of Belmore Browne Peak, 1992-1993, and photographs, ca.1930, ca.1955, 1991-1992.; Diaries are mainly trip diaries pertaining to summer travels and family life in the Canadian Rockies, 1921-1933. Included are trips to Red Earth Creek, Skoki, Mystic Lake, Sawback Lake, Red Deer Valley, Hector Lake, Bow Lake, Kananaskis Valley, Cascade and Panther rivers, Elbow Pass, and other locations. Other diaries cover the years 1943 to 1954, years partly spent at Seebe until Belmore Browne's death. Diary copies and typescripts have been annotated by Evelyn Browne.; Posters on alpine and wilderness survival, ca.1942, were done by Belmore Browne for the American military's Arctic Training Program.; Photographs are mainly photographic copies of paintings by Belmore and George Browne produced by Peter A. Juley & Son, Photographers of Fine Arts, New York, ca.1955, 79 items.
