Description: A grosgrain ribbon in red and white (colours of the Austrian flag) (a) is folded into the shape of a triangle. A metal pin set with a wide pin bar is inserted into the fold and (b) a grosgrain ribbon in red and white (colours of the Austrian flag) is folded into the shape of a small bow and sewn onto a metal back of a tie-tack style (spike and clutch closure attachment) lapel pin. (a) A grosgrain ribbon in red and white (colours of the Austrian flag) is folded into the shape of a triangle. A metal pin set with a wide pin bar is inserted into the fold. The hinged pin comes through the fabric at the back displaying a barrel-type catch for closing. A silver-coloured metal hook is sewn onto the top part; this hooks through a silver-coloured rivet in the bottom of the folded triangular-shaped ribbon and attaches to a metal ring, which in turn is attached to a ring soldered to the top part of the back of a heraldic gold-coloured stylized eagle, wings outstretched, embossed with ten divisional/regimental shields, one under the head and nine on the tips of the its feathers. There is a second ring soldered onto the bottom back of the eagle, suspended from which is a gold-coloured Maltese cross with webbed design surface and a flat-surfaced Christian cross in the centre.(b) A grosgrain ribbon in red and white (colours of the Austrian flag) is folded into the shape of a small bow and sewn onto a metal back of a tie-tack style (spike and clutch closure attachment) lapel pin. The size is (2.5 wide x 1 width x 1cm deep).The medal and lapel pin are stored in a red-paper covered metal hinged box (black bottom) lined with white satin on the inside cover and white faux velvet on the container part with depressions made for the medal and the lapel pin. Gold script with the jeweller’s particulars “Friedrich Orth Wien seit 1840” is embossed on the inside cover. A heraldic eagle is embossed in gold on the top of the box lid.

The scene has mountains in the background with a climber, Bruno Engler, highlighted in the centre, with "Bruno's Mountain Bock " in red. Also on the label is "The Bow Valley Brewing Company Canmore Alberta Strong Beer Biere Forte". The paper case is light brown in colour with the same picture as the label on four sides with stories about Bruno and the beer on the top, other promotion on sides. Poster 91.5x56.0 has a black border with white lettering. "Canmore's Legendary Brew" is in large black letters at top of poster, yellowish background is a mountain scene with a black and white image of the beer bottle centered. Signed "Bruno Engler" on left edge. Small card promoting the book "A Mountain Life Stories and photographs of Bruno Engler edited by R. W. Sandford".

Description: Circular metal and enamel pin with the inner circle containing a stylized mountain on the top-third of a segmented globe on a blue enamel background, Above the circle are the letters “UIAGM” and below “IVBV”. The outer ring of the circular pin has these words printed on it “GUIDE DE MONTAGNES GUIDA BERGFUHRER”. The front of the pin is coated with clear plastic, presumably for protection from the elements as it must be worn when guiding. The back of the pin has two horizontal hinged pins on two separate pin sets with a swivel-locking safety catch for each of the pins. In between the pin sets is a rectangular box with the letter “K” on top and then “KOFEL-BZ”.

Description: One medal of order (a) (Order of Canada) and two lapel pins (b,c) (Order of Canada):(a) the medal of order is a six-pointed white enamel stylized snowflake design edged in silver. There is a silver maple leaf (signifying that it stands for Member of the Order of Canada) soldered onto the centre of the snowflake. The maple leaf is surrounded by a red enamel ring bearing the motto of the order “DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM” (meaning “They desire a better country”) in silver lettering. The circle is topped by a crown (white, red, and turquoise) enamel simulating jewels edged in silver) of St. Edward, symbolizing that the order is headed by a sovereign. At the top of the snowflake badge there is a silver metal suspension ring. A grosgrain ribbon, white, bordered in red stripes similar to the Canadian flag, is passed through the ring and attached to a silver pin bar. The reverse side is plain silver except for the word “CANADA” and “1181” underneath, printed on the centre disc. Directly below on one of the snowflake points are some numbers and underneath that the word “RIDEAU”. On the top reverse side of the pin bar there is a horizontal hinged pin with a swivel-locking safety catch, underneath which “RIDEAU” is printed. The pin bar has an opening for the ribbon to pass through and two holes at the bottom where the ribbon is sewn to the pin bar with red thread.(a,b) The two small lapel pins (1cm high,1cm wide) are white enamel stylized snowflakes edged in silver with a silver maple leaf in the centre. On the back there is one small spike and one larger spike soldered onto the medal with a tie-tack style (spike and clutch closure attachment) pin closure. The medal and lapel pins are stored in a hinged black leatherette case lined in blue satin; the medal (a) rests in a depression, the lapel pins have no depressions for storage, the cover is lined in white satin, the letters “C.M.” in gold on outside lid.

Title: Daypack Backpack

Description: A well-made green canvas rucksack with leather straps and metal buckles. It has a drawstring closure with metal grommets through which a woven cord is passed through and tied. The flap is a separate piece of canvas sewn onto the sack which is darted and rounded to fit neatly over the top of the pack. A leather strap is attached to the flap by two rivets stamped with the words “WIDE STEEL SHANK” (Note: all rivets mentioned have this lettering). The main sack/bag has a white label sewn onto the top bearing the trademark “A & F” in red thread and “Abercrombie & Fitch Co.” in blue, underneath this “NEW YORK”. Underneath the label the word “MILLS” is hand printed in black indelible ink. There are two flapped pockets attached to the front of the bag; each flap has a leather strap attached to it by one rivet. The pocket has a metal buckle attached to the flap by piece of folded leather attached by two rivets. Between the pockets is another metal buckle attached by piece of folded leather and two rivets. On the back of the bag there is a piece of leather sewn onto the top and two straps for arms to go through; each strap is attached by two rivets; 5cm from the bottom and 3.5cm from each side there are two pieces of green corded material 6.5x2w cm folded over and sewn with green thread in an X-shaped pattern. On the bottom sides of the pack there are two folded pieces of leather, through which a metal ring is inserted, attached by two rivets. A metal push clip that hooks through the ring has a folded leather piece held together by one rivet. Through these two folds the buckle and the clip are attached.

Description: In the foreground two mountain climbers are making their way through a series of blue-green ice blocks. To the viewer’s immediate right: the back of a climber, the thigh of his right leg, his bent left leg (in the act of climbing up), his left arm bent at the elbow with his hand resting on his brown ice axe. He is wearing a red down-filled parka with the hood up. The jacket has two badges on the upper left arm; the lower, larger badge is black and white and the upper badge is the Canadian flag in red and white. He is also wearing black mitts, brown ski pants, and on the partial view of his left leg and foot, red gaiters, brown boots with red laces and crampons. Ahead of him to the viewer’s left, another man is in the act of climbing, his body is turning to the left and he appears to be looking off in the distance. He is wearing eye goggles, a blue parka with grey fur around the collar and bottom, a red head cover, grey mitts and red gaiters. His right hand is resting on his ice axe. He appears to be a guide (Sherpa) because of his dark skin. To his right, and directly in front of the first climber and the ice blocks, is a towering serac of blue-green ice. Three of its jagged peaks at the top extend beyond our view. The snow on the viewer’s left is blue and white and there are exposed brown and green, snow-covered rocks to the viewer’s left. The sky above is a very deep blue.
