- Edgar Dewdney was born in Devonshire, England and came to Canada in 1859. He was a surveyor and civil engineer. Became a member of the British Columbia Assembly, 1869-1872, sat in the House of Commons as a Conservative member, 1872-1879 and 1888-1892. Dewdney also served as an Indian Affairs Commissioner for Manitoba and the Northwest Territories from 1879 to 1888, was Lieutenant-Governor of the Northwest Territories,1881 to1892 and Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia from 1892 to 1897.

Lefroy, the Bee Hive, Lake Agnes, Temple Mtn, Mt. Assiniboine, the Bow River, Mt. Rundle and the Banff Springs Hotel. Some of the b&w prints have a colour equivalent (see file V185 / 1-23). Many of the prints have notes written on the back identifying places and activities. All prints are undated.
