Two U.S. Army issue decker pack saddles. Saddles constructed of wood and metal with thick underpads attached. Underpads made of heavy leather with canvas backing, stuffed with horse hair.Basket ropes coiled on saddle. Saddle b) has canvas and leather cinches. Saddle a) is missing cinches and has no markings except a piece of adhesive tape on which is written “STEEL”. Saddle b) has several markings: “A4. HUNTER & Co. 1917” is stamped onto the wood, “JABEZ CLIFF & Co. WALSALL. 1917” is stamped on the leather of the underpad, and “AM B 27” is stamped on one leather strap.
