- History / Biographical
- Walter Ashdown, 1890-1975, was a chauffeur at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Ashdown emigrated to Canada in 1904 and farmed for several years before becoming a private chauffeur, ca.1913, to prominent Calgarians prior to the First World War. He served as a dispatch rider and driver in France, returning to Canada in 1919. The following year he commenced employment with Brewster Transport Co., retiring ca.1970. During his long career, Ashdown was Brewster's chauffeur to celebrities, including royalty, politicians and actors. - Charles Henry McAulay, 1874-1966, was briquette plant manager at Bankhead, Alberta, 1907-1912, and General Construction Foreman for Rocky Mountains Park / Banff National Park from 1912-1939. Following his retirement in 1939, McAulay was foreman for private companies. McAulay was married to Cecilia Mayola McAulay, 1888-1953.
