Mabel Sarah Aubin, 1905-1990, was a life-long resident of Banff, Alberta, Canada. Mabel Aubin's parents, the Stenton family, ran the Alberta Hotel beginning ca.1908.

Drawn and tied threads along top form slits through which a heavy, beige, silk cord drawstring is threaded. Two loop handles of same cord attached on inside. Lined with wine coloured silk. Flower basket and lion very delicately worked in cross stitch using linen as a canvas. Colours in bottom fringe pick up colours in embroidery and are different on each side of bag.
