In the foreground are trees with orange leaves and dark to black coloured bark and twigs. These trees in the foreground extend all the way up to the upper third of the photograph. Looking threw the trees to the far background you can see a mountain range that starts at the right and continues to the center left. Between the trees and the mountains is a still lake with reflections from the mountains behind. The sky above is a light to medium even grey.

In the bottom right hand corner of the photo, written in black ink, is the title, year and artist signature, “Lake O’Hara ‘78 B. Spohr”. There are four peaks layering in front of one another and the closest one looks like a hill with trees on it. The bottom half and foreground of the photograph is a placid lake with a faint reflection of the mountains in it. On the horizon line, where the base of the mountains and the lake meet is a thick line of fog running across the photograph.
