Stamped on bottom a cross hatched pattern with letter "B" within circle, possibly an "R" as well. Stamped in centre of base is "5". Base dented, bottom is dove-tailed to the body.

About 5% of the quills are loose at one end, some quills lost. Thread which binds grass to rim of lid has frayed severely. Box contains six quartz crystals.
