The shirt is decorated with wide strips of white beadwork with a blue, light blue and gold pattern along the tops of the sleeves and over each shoulder, extending down the front and back of the shirt, and connected at the bottom with another beaded panel. The back of the shirt has a square beadwork patch surrounded with fringe between the shoulders.

On the underside of the box are the marks “Fred Carey June 15 - 95” and “1898 New York” in pencil, and the name of Carey is written on the bottom seven times in different styles.
