Heavy lip above flange has deep groove cut in above flange and two shallow grooves around top edge of lip. Inside of bowl is cylindrical. Lid is simple straight sided dome fitting from outside circumference of bowl flange with small knob handle on top. Bottom of bowl has glazed stamp reading "Terrine Brevettee S6D8 (?) LE CACHET France" around the numbers "14 / 2"; the number "14 " has been stamped into the surface of the base and on the underside of the lid.
