- This vessle resembles a bowl with the opening 5 cm from the vessel’s edge. The edge creates an overhang into the opening, resulting in shadow inside the bowl. The opening of the bowl is a kidney shape, and the inside of the opening is predominately greyish brown clay with a bluish porcelain ring near the top of the opening. The inside of the bowl is covered with a thin layer of glaze. The predominant colour of the piece is the cream of the porcelain which is located mostly on the outside of the vessle. The dark brown and greys of the clay are introduced into the bottom of the piece and wind around the bowl mixing with the white porcelain near the centre and top. Streaks of light blue and green porcelain are introduced sparingly on both sides of the piece. The shape of the bowl is an oval which is higher at one end than the other. On the bottom of the bowl two notches in the shape of slanted rectangles have been cut. A notch is also cut on the top lip of the bowl creating a wave type formation.

- Description
- A tall narrow vessle of circular shape which becomes wider at the bottom and curves slightly at the top to one side. The opening of the vessle is 3.5 cm from the vessle’s edge. This edge creates an overhang into the circular opening of the vessle which results in deep shadows. The inside is glazed lightly and is of the same colouring as the outside of the vessle. The predominant colour of the piece is the cream colour of the porcelain which is located in a solid form on the top half of the piece. The browns and greys of the clay are abundant at the bottom of the piece and wind their way up to just below the middle of the vessle. Here they begin mixing with the cream porcelain. Interspersed in the clay are small streaks of light blue porcelan. The top of the piece is circular with 2 small portions carved away resulting in one wave type formation and one indent wich runs in a line halfway down the piece. Along this line and off to one side is a narrow crack which runs through to the inside of the vessle and is filled with a grey material. The bottom of the piece is an uneven circular shape with a series of triangular gouges taken out of it. 3/4 of the way up the vessle in the predominately clay portion is a small white lip.

Inside the open card, written in pen, viewer’s right, “Dear Mary, I’m enclosing the money order receipt for the pique book - and your 12 (cent) change. It was so lovely to have you visit. I hope we can entice you north again sometime soon. I’ll be interested to hear of your experiences with computer draw-downs of pique. I leave out the shots that don’t show on the surface mine don’t look right. Perhaps it is because the computer thinks in terms of 50/50 weaves. Bob and I will be driving back from Vancouver and staying overnight in Banff on Aug. 22. We’ll get to Banff in the late afternoon.
