History / Biographical: Recovered July 17, 2011 by David P. Jones of Golden, B.C.; original author/owner unknown. Was originally stored upside down in old rusty sardine can and punctured with several holes caused by lightning.

Scope & Content: Handwritten record of mountain ascent (unnamed mountain located 2.2 km NNE of Mount Folk), written on scrap piece from coconut biscuit box. Author unknown, dated 1964(?). Provides multiple names of climbers, and references Alpine Club and Vancouver. Names written include: Paddy Sherman(?), Werner Himmelsbach, Ralph Hutchinson, Don MacLaurin, Joe Hutton, and Bren Moss.

Title: Ulu, Scraper, Slingshot

Description: The typical Inuit Ulu has a light brown bone handel with a piece of metal stuck in the center to support the cutting piece. The cutting blade is triangular in shape with a rounded bottom edge. (b) 15.0 x 9.5 cm A light golden brown piece of bone cut and shaped into a scraper tool. This scraper is narrow at one end for your hand and wider and thin at the other for the scraping action. At the narrow end there is a thin piece of skin threaded threw a hole and knotted used for hanging. (c) 89.0 x 4.5 cm A piece of skin with a wide spot in the center and a long strips stitched on either side used for a slingshot. The skin is light in color and also a light weight. At the end of one skin strip there is a hole and at the other there is a section that has been doubled up and stitched. The center piece has two holes in the center.
