Description: Wooden stadia rod. Brass tip base, varnished single wood shaft with impressed and painted vernier scale numbers and fractions. Used to measure vertical short distances and horizontal lengths. Stadia, from Latin “Stadium,” based on a unit of length for Roman racing arenas.

Description: Weathered round post, pointed one end, traces of yellow paint. Mounted on stained and varnished board. Post placed at 1/4 section corner on east boundary of section 26, township 26, range 14, westof the 5th meridian, now in Banff National Park, by P.R.A. Belanger, D.L.S. in 1886. Replaced by an old-pattern iron post in 1959 by M. Wuhr, D.L.S. and A.L.S.
