Appropriate points of the dial indicate “Changeable”, “Fair”, “Very Dry”, “Stormy” and “Rain”. There is an adjustment screw through the wood on the back with a keyhole bracket for hanging. Casing rim ridged for gripping and rotation of altitude dial, inner dial, under crystal, is fixed and indicates barometric pressure in inches of mercury. Instrument is an aneroid barometer and needle varies with changes in atmospheric pressure, whether by change of altitude or change of weather. On dial face are following marks "rain change fair...compensated. Harrison & Co. Montreal, Made in England". On back of instrument casing is screw adjustment to correct for local conditions. Barometric pressure range is 17 to 31, altitude 0 to 16,000 feet.

String ties along top of belt were probably affixed for hanging the belt for exhibition purposes.
