History / Biographical: Fortress Mountain is located in Kananaskis Country, near Spray Valley, Banff National Park and Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. It was originally a mountain ski resort. The films, Inception, The Bourne Legacy, The Claim, The Revenant and others were filmed in the area. Canadian climate researchers have used the area of Fortress Mountain Resort to study the effects of climate change in the area.

Scope & Content: Files consist of summit notes and summit registers from Fortress Mountain produced by the Alpine Club of Canada between 1992 and 2005. Scope & Content: Item consists of one 16 mm motion picture pertaining to a miscellaneous collection of clips edited together of avalanche control operations in Glacier National Park, as well as shots of trains going into and coming out of the Connaught Tunnel. Also includes shots of the remnants of a snow shed, men skiing, and [presumably the same] men conducting expirments and taking readings on the snowpack. The original label on the case reads "Title Glacier Park BC Avalanche Control, Date 1959-1960, Camera B. Engler, Footage Color, Note: Leftover from Film Editing." An additional note included in the case [appears to be a photocopy of the orginal] includes: "Snow pit test Noel Gardner, old CP Roundhouse ruin, West entrance of Connought Tunnel, Train in and out of tunnel. Remarks: This is of short cuts taped together, can no be projected mostly short cuts."

Scope & Content: Item consists of one 16 mm motion picture pertaining to footage of and from the Sulphur Mountain Gondola - including shots from inside the cars, shots of people getting in and out of the cars, and views of the Banff townsite - to be used for an unknown National Film Board project. The reel also contains footage of the installation of a power line between Banff and Lake Louise - mostly consisting of shots from the ground of the helicopter picking up, flying with, and placing the poles. Most of this footage is underexposed.
