History / Biographical: Paul Anthony Wilson Wallace, 1891-1967, grew up in Toronto and travelled extensively. While a young man, Wallace was active in mountain climbing and in the Alpine Club of Canada. A Professor of English, he taught at the University of Alberta until 1922, then in the United States until 1967.

Scope & Content: Textual records include correspondence, notes, sketches, manuscripts and collected items, including ascent accounts. Some pertain to Mount Robson, Resplendent Mountain, Mount Assiniboine, Conrad Kain and Mount Robson Expedition (1913). Photograph collection, 1912-1916, includes views by Paul A. W. Wallace, C. B. Sissons, Blanche Hume, Frank Stapleford and Byron Harmon. Views pertain to Mount Moloch and Mount Baal areas of the Selkirks; ACC camp at Vermilion Pass 1912; Mount Robson ACC camp and area, 1913; and Lake Louise area, 1916.

History / Biographical: Frank W. Freeborn was an original member of the Alpine Club of Canada.

Scope & Content: Photograph albums mainly document Alpine Club of Canada camps in the Rocky and Selkirk Mountains between 1906 and 1914. Included are photographs of camp sites, activities, participants, operations and mountaineering in the areas of Selkirk Mountains, Glacier area and Rogers Pass, Yoho Valley, Consolation Valley, Paradise Valley, Sherbrooke Lake, Cathedral Mountain, Vermilion Pass and Mount Robson area. Albums and images are titled and often include detailed identifications. Several albums are broad thematic compilations of scenic and camp views.
