- Four needlepoint sampler fragments with geometric designsa) orange, blue and black design in two lines, unfinished. Yellow whip stitch on one edge.b) brown and red hexagon design with black edges. Dark red whip stitch around all edgesc) green and red elongated hexagon design with black edges. Dark red whip stitch around all edges except one.d) miniature green and red design on perforated card, similar to (a)Three (a,b,c) are made on large open weave cloth. (d) is made on a perforated paper or card material. (b,c) are made on cloth that has blue guidelines built into the weave. All designs are using “cross-stitch” technique, where a tent stitch is made in one direction first, then created in the opposite direction overtop to form an “x” shape.
