- The Banff Community Society was a liaison group representing town of Banff to the Government of Canada. Over the years, various groups have represented the interests of Banff residents and businesses in the absence of municipal government. These have included the Banff Board of Trade, 1912-1915, the Banff Citizen's Association, 1921 (became the Banff Advisory Council in 1925). The latter served until 1978, when the Banff Advisory Society (later the Banff Community Society) was organized. In 1983 the Banff Community Society's responsibilities were assumed by the Banff School Board.

- The Banff School District No.102 provided elementary and secondary education for Banff and area from 1887 until 1994, when it was replaced by the Canadian Rockies Regional Division No.12. During the 1970s and 1980s the district assumed, in the absence of a municipal government, responsibilities for aspects of local government as well as school administration. After 1990, the district's responsibilities strictly pertained to public education.

- The Banff Townsite Provisional Administration Board was established in 1975 in response to an initiative from the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs, Judd Buchanan. Members were appointed from the local population. The board's duty, to be completed by 1977, was to prepare proposals for a local self-government body responsible for municipal duties including administration, finance, taxation, leasehold and land rental issues. The Board co-operated with other local and regional organizations, governments and with the Jasper Townsite Committee. The P.A.B. arose from task forces including the Banff Townsite Options Review Committee (T.O.R.C.) which dissolved in favor of the board in 1975. A School Board plebiscite in 1976, while not binding, suggested public opinion did not favor self-government at that time.

- William Robert Roberge was born in 1927 in Banff, Alberta and attended Banff schools. Roberge served in both the Royal Canadian Navy and the British Navy during the Second World War. Married in 1948 to Margot Sorensen, they have one son, Michael Brian. Bill Roberge is a member of the Calgary Naval Veterans Association, the Naval Museum of Alberta Society, a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, #26 Col. Moore Branch and in 1995, was awarded the Legion Meritorious Service Medal. Roberge has served on the branch executive and numerous committees of the legion. He is a long-time member of the Kinsmen Association, serving as president of the Banff Kinsmen Club and as deputy-governor of the Kinsmen Association's District #5.
- Bill Roberge served for six years on the Banff school board, three years as chairman. He served six years on the Banff Advisory Council, three years as chairman, and he served as trustee for two Banff Mineral Springs Hospital boards. In 1968, Roberge travelled to Rome as Banff's representative for the 1972 Winter Olympic Games for Canada bid. Since the town of Banff's incorporation, Roberge has served as councillor for two terms as well as holding membership on numerous committees each year.

- Bruno Engler, 1915-2001, was a mountain guide, ski instructor, photographer and film maker at Banff and Canmore, Alberta, Canada. Engler arrived from Switzerland in 1939 and initially worked as a mountain guide and ski instructor for the Canadian Pacific Railway, Sunshine ski area and for Deer Lodge at Lake Louise, Alberta. During the Second World War, he served as a mountain warfare instructor for the Canadian Army. Following the war, Engler worked as a free-lance photographer for the National Film Board and others; as coach of the University of Alberta Ski Team; and as a technical advisor, cameraman and actor for numerous movies made in the Banff area. Throughout his career, Engler worked as a still and motion picture photographer, both for the movie industry and for governments at all levels, as well as operating his own business, Alpine Films of Banff, Alberta.
