64 oil colour paint brushes ranging in size from 0.2 cm to 2.4 cm across the crimped portion of the ferrules. Most of the brushes are American made by F. Weber Co., some are British made by Winsor & Newton and a few Canadian import M. Grumbacher. Most of the brushes have varnished wooden handles. Most of the ferrules are tin plated with nickel. Most of the bristles appear to be bleached hog hair.

Description
Elaborately carved, W. J. Phillips' (a) presentation case: 61.5x79.3x12.5, hinged lid drops open, held by 52.5 long chains both sides. Lid elaborately carved, centre design 34.0x27.0,leaves, berries, etc. Border 8.0 wide carved square chain design, corners pinwheel, inside lined with green velvet (b) easel: 183.0x71.0, top of upright ca 40.0x30.0 elaborately carved, also carving on upright and both wings, more carving at cross bar. Feet of wings curve out into scroll. Tray has turned outer edge with carved design brace, brace broken in 2 places (old), the upright has 9 holes for movement of tray, the 2 wings have 2 holes near top for installation of case. The back lever is 140.0 long with 21.5 foot, attached to the back of the upright with a bolt and brace mechanism. Condition: water spots over all, left wing foot broken off and secured with 3 screws, piece broken off right wing top, glued back on, gouges from improper moving of tray, lever slightly warped.
